SSN = Social Security Number. :thumb:, although there are many other choices. Pete

Not a good sign if it won't go into safe mode - try LKGC, its worth a shot (system restore rarely works which is why its probably better to turn it off and save yourself the resources). Have you installed any new hardware or software on it?

I haven't installed anything recently, I cant even find LKGC, the only parts I can access are the "systems recovery options" after it's unsuccesfully run windows repair or the options that appear if you hold escape on startup.

Can I get to LKGC from there???

I'm thinking I might have to do the recovery manager to original condition.

I've got no idea what has caused this, it was running perfectly, left alone for 20 minutes and it's :cuss: :banghead:

I meant Sky Sports News by the way, I was just pointing out I wasn't on any dodgy sites or downloading anything.

Has anyone ever got a dreambox (or equivalent) to run wirelessly ?

i.e. there are no physical connections to it, and all the feeds are via a wifi or similar. It would enable TV's to be moved easily from room to room without having to mess about with re-cabling (or buying extra boxes that arent used very often).

Presumably there would need to be a transmitter in the loft / attic connected to the LNB(s) of the satellite dish. It should work the same way wifi works from a router.

any ideas anyone ?

If you press F8 while booting (before it gets to the loading Windows screen) you'll get a bunch of options including Safe Mode and LKGC.

If none of that works then yes, it could be a factory restore - hope your data was backed up!

Buksi, I was going to do the factory restore last night but it gave me the option of backing up info via usb before going through with it.

I've got no paid for programmes on it so how much memory is internet settings and stuff going to take up?

Music and photos are all already on my phone so would 8gb cover the rest?

Any other info, I've not done this before.

If your physical data (docs, pics, music etc) is already backed up I wouldn't bother, a clean install is always best - it'll just take a couple of hours to configure all of your settings and re-install your software.

In fact I'd recommend a clean format and re-install every 6 months or so for all heavy users, consider it the same as a service for your bike or car, it'll run like new afterwards!

Got an HP Pavilion dv6 and had it 18 months. Works well but battery now appears dead. Only ever run on the battery when a power failure kicks in. One failure occured here about 2 weeks ago and outage time was about 7 hours so my laptop was drained.

Next morning all OK because running on power but indicator says 0% available (plugged in not charging) so is the battery f***ed? or do I need to change some settings? I'm on Windows 7 and my power settings are on balanced.

If no result then our little man on Petcha near the shell garage? will have to sort

Richard, I had an HP notebook and the battery would not charge on that one but would run on mains OK.

I got around the problem, by sending the notebook to Buksida in Thailand, to use for the computers for Mercy house kids. I expect Buksi has ripped it up for spares by now.

Yes PET Hewlett Packard are swear words in our house as well.
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.
