Postal services to the UK

Post by lomuamart »

I've got some important documents to send back to the UK. I'm also on a deadline for them to arrive, although that's not critical yet - mid next month for arrival.
Does the Post Office have any service that might suit this situation, including proof of delivery/receipt?
Any ideas are welcome. It may be that I'll have to use Fedex or some such similar. In which case, can that be done easily from here? (I seem to remember threads on this before).
I don't fancy flying back to deliver by hand but that would cost me less than if these documents don't arrive on time

The Thai Post Office EMS service does registered mail.
I've used it before and it has been reliable.
You get a tracking number so you can check up on the delivery progress as you wish.

In May I sent a letter to England by EMS and it took only three days.
The cost was 950 Baht.

Lomuamart, EMS is good. Also as an option TNT or DHL, I am sure I have seen one of their delivery vehicles in town.

They all have tracking systems in place.

I can also vouch for what has been said. Whenever my daughter has anything important to send such as photos of the Grand Children, she always uses the service - very fasy and very efficient. She's done it many times, and the service has always been excellent.

Ok, good news. That's sorted out then.
The documents must arrive by the 15th September, so I assume they'll be in time if I get them off by the 3rd?

That's plenty of time, although it'll seem like an eternity waiting for notification that they've arrived. :D

I always send my tax returns and payment Lomu via EMS. The check to the USA Treasury is always cashed within 10 days of sending, never failed yet.

There is more than one type of EMS though per my understanding and the cheaper one is not much or anything more than air mail with a receipt. I don't know the different names of the two so just go for the expensive one which as mentioned will run you the better part of 1,000.

I don't know if Thai EMS has a tracking web site and if so, how detailed it is. That's one good thing about using Fedex or DHL, you can check on it as often as you wish and see exactly where it is. Perhaps can do with EMS as well, I just am not familiar. Pete

I've just sent my passport via EMS to Hong Kong as I need a new one. I didn't really like to send such a valuable item in the post, but apparently they need the old one to issue a new one.

Being slightly nervous about sending it, I've tracked it all the way. I passed it over to the local post office in Nakhon Pathom at 3.30pm on Friday, and they attempted to deliver it to the Consular Office in Hong Kong on Saturday morning!! Of course the office was closed, so I just checked and it's been signed for this morning. I'm hugely impressed.

Cost? Only 550 baht. :)

I've been using EMS at the post office since 2004 for lots of important documents between here and the U.S.. They've always been fast and reliable. Only complaint I could have is that the fee for sending a document to America has gone up a couple of hundred baht in the last year or so but great service.

Just bee to the place just along from the Tessa going south on Petcha.

Small place at the end of the block. Was passing so popped in and asked about DHL.

1/2 Kilo letter 1400 baht.

Personally I use EMS but DHL seems faster

Hope I'm not advertising here!!!!!

Continental drift, it get's further away each year. Literally and metaphorically. :D Pete

I got my documents off by EMS yesterday. Tracked the package early this morning and was amazed that it had arrived at Swampy already. That was impressive.
It cost me 1,100 THB, but there were 84 pages of docs weighing 432 gms, so I wasn't going to complain.
