Can somebody help me out here please?

Mrs BB has just been to see a Thai friend, and has come home with a packet of something, which she set about crushing while it was still in its packet, and then poured it into a brand new bottle of vodka. The vodka has turned red, and has now been put back on the shelf to 'cook' for 2 days. She says it's medicinal, and she needs a glass before meals.

The only English writing on the packet is 'ELEVEN TIGERS BRAND'. I've taken a photo of both sides of the empty packet:

- What was inside the 11 Tigers packet?

- What does it do?

- Mrs BB says it has some sort of medicinal properties - is this right? If so, what?

- Is it legal?

I've no idea, but why would you pollute good vodka with it?

The wife, and Mother in law say it's usually for older people (I'm just the messenger) to give power, sort of like a red bull drink. Also helping with aches and pains. Mom says it's old fashioned, and natural ingredients (except the alcohol).

The wife, and MIL, doesn't drink but said this type is mixed with alcohol.

They also said there is a type that is premixed.

Oh, the MIL just said younger people do use it!!

I asked why alcohol, but the answer was, "it works better", and that's how it is always done.

Personally mixing anything with alcohol works for me!!

I'd still like to know what's in it though.

My wife has done the same to a large bottle of Absolut Vodka. In Thailand they use Thai whiskey which is clear, so in UK they use Vodka.

Apparently, it help to clear out the old blood after having a baby. and she downs about 20 Mls a night.

Great to see her face, as the drink smells awful and she doesn't drink alcohol.

Hmmmm... It's nearly 20 years since she last gave birth - I'd have thought the old blood would be gone by now.

I want an easy life, so I have given up asking her "why do you?"

Sounds like you don't need any of the "magic elixer"

It is called "Yah dong" 3 or 4 glasses of the real homemade stuff will make you feel like superman. Getting drunk on it is ALWAYS messy. Whilst most unitiated Farang knock it back as a shot the Thais usually sip it with a cup of hot water that tastes fantly of rice and nibble preserved tamarind with rock salt. They use Lao kao for the alcohol and sometimes sweeten with honey. It is, as has been stated, a herbal medicine that just happens to get you pissed at the same time.

Mrs BB is talking about bringing a stack of this stuff back to the UK with us - is it legal? I know that everybody has said it's a natural herb, but cannabis grows naturally as well.

Well, these guys are importing & selling the stuff, so I can't see it being illegal....
