Re: The Digital Surgery
Firstly try the actual card in another machine, the fault could be with that.
If not is sounds like hardware failure so the machine may have to go back to the manufacturer if it is under warranty still.

Re: The Digital Surgery
Very unlikely laptop hardware can be repaired in Hua Hin though many of the shops will happily send it to Bangers for you ... for a price.

Re: The Digital Surgery
Try this HOTFIX from microsoft
You will have to click on the link at the top of the page and microsoft will send you the hotfix as its not available for public download for some reason
http://support.microsoft./kb/921413/en-us
As this is my first post, I cant post a URL link so you will have to change that address to microsoft dot com if you know what i mean

Re: The Digital Surgery
I'll put this here rather than drag up the 'Free software recommendations' thread.
Call me a dinosaur for using GOM player or 2007 WMP, but have been having problems with both playing stuff recently, even with codec packs, especially movies.
However, would like to recommend two alternatives that do a way better job, and that is KM Player and VLC Player, both free, capture the sound really well and can listen to some AVI movie sound formats that the previous two didn't like at all.
Plays everything, impressed, must say.

Re: The Digital Surgery
So my laptop has finally died thanks to the infamous Nvidia defect, PC World have reimbursed me £200.
What would you have out of these in the £350-£380ish range?

Re: The Digital Surgery
They're all very similar but I've never heard of Advent so personally I'd go for the Tosh or Asus - probably the Tosh as it has 3 gigs of RAM.

Re: The Digital Surgery
Do they sell MSI there. The S6000 series is being sold in the U.S. for around $600 with 3mb memory, Intel I5 processor, 500mb hard drive, 15.6 inch wide-screen, DVD writer, Windows 7 and all the other usual stuff. It's considered by many reviewers as the best budget gaming (capable) notebook out there.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Re: The Digital Surgery
They do but it looks like that model is for the American market.hhfarang wrote:Do they sell MSI there. The S6000 series is being sold in the U.S.
Cheers Buks, that was my first thought so I'll purchase in the next few days.buksida wrote:They're all very similar but I've never heard of Advent so personally I'd go for the Tosh or Asus - probably the Tosh as it has 3 gigs of RAM.
Windows 7 too.

Re: The Digital Surgery
What would you go for if money was no object (within reason) Buksi?
Alienware?
Alienware?
Re: The Digital Surgery
If money was no object I'd get a kickass desktop with dual Nvidia GTX295's, 8 gigs of RAM and a monster screen.
I only use laptops for work so don't need a high spec humdinger.

Re: The Digital Surgery
What do you think of this one Buks?
Can get it for £400. Better specs than the Toshiba.
