Carling Cup

Keane`s goal was offside, but justice was done and the natural order has been restored in North London.

Ah, if only Arsenal could be so dominant elsewhere - not!

I see Everton's season went from bad to worse losing at little old Brentford. I drove past the ground earlier and even though it was well before KO, it looked like the home crowd were up for it!

Will Moyes survive?!? :naughty:

Just wait a bit caller, I'm sure your wish will come true. I think the very positive side yesterday was that we now have enough players to field two strong teams and be able to entertain the crowds even in the Carling cup. Still some of the youngsters will get a chance to play with the top guns, just like Lansbury did yesterday. Although, I am a bit worried about the growing injury list, yet again.

I actually wasnt suprised Brentford beat us last night. It seems Moyes' technical/managerial brain has been erased. Some bizzarre tactics, substitutions etc. Oh well, this is Everton. Our season doesn't normally start till Dec/Jan. So not too worried...........YET :(
The only things I regret are the things I didn't do

Liverpool have got a 16 year old lad in the squad for tonights game by the name of Jesus Joaquin Fernandez Saenz De La Torre. AKA Suso.

He's not English incase anybody was wondering.

He looks like he has the potential to be the next Fabregas or Iniesta, a really exciting talent.

Liverpool managed to beat Real and Barca to sign him up, probably thanks to our new youth coach, Rodolfo Borrell, the man who coached the likes of Fabregas, Messi and Iniesta at Barca.

Jesus? Liverpool need all the help they can get, but come on that`s not being fair.

Apparently he's not keen on crosses.

Did Chelsea play their second team? If only Newcastle can do that in the PL. Perhaps wishing for too much. Pete

Pretty much so and it didn't work out. Only Ramires (new signing) started who played last Saturday. Abelka came on as did Kalou who then limped off and we played for the last 30 minutes with 10 men!

With all the money spent I would have thought that Chelsea and Man C could have fielded two top class teams.

Er, we bought Ramires and Benayoun and he went off injured as well - we played our youngsters.

From Chelsea's website:

There were mixed emotions for Carlo Ancelotti following tonight's exit from the Carling Cup.

The first emotion was disappointment, as we lost 4-3 to Newcastle inside Stamford Bridge, but the second was pride as he watched a 10-man Blues side battle back from 3-1 down to equalise.

'I am disappointed for the result, this is normal,' explained the Italian, 'but I am happy for the performance, absolutely happy.

'We had a fantastic reaction when we went down 3-1, playing 10 against 11.

'We showed good spirit, good personality, especially from the young players and this is good for us.

'This was a competition for the young players, they needed to have experience and they had a fantastic experience tonight.

'It was very difficult but at the end we can say that we are happy with the performance of our players and that's it.'

It was a testing night for Chelsea. Having put out a young side, Ancelotti then had to watch as Gael Kakuta, Yossi Benayoun and Salomon Kalou all picked up injuries.

'We had three problems,' said Ancelotti. 'Kakuta had a problem on his back, Benayoun on his calf and Kalou had a tight muscle.'

But even with that in mind, the Italian had no regrets about playing the side he did.

'This [Carling Cup] is not our priority, we have a very important game on the weekend and I wanted to rest some players.

'This was one reason. The second was because we wanted to give our young players an opportunity to improve.

'I am not so disappointed. We had the ability to look at players with a lot of character, this is good for us. In the future we can count on these players.

'I want to judge the match, not my players. We did our best. We are disappointed with the result obviously. We conceded four goals. But the performance was good.'

Should fire the Geordies up for the league game!
