What wasn't a problem? Spitfire quoted 2 scenarios - which did you experience?
ncidentally Admin, I am very lazy and tend never to log out. Does this cause problems in any way?
Neither do I - I don't believe it's a problem.

missing HHAD site pages

Post by HuntingTigers »

usual suspect wrote:How come my screen here says I'm on page 1 of 1, yet time after time on HHAD I'm only seeing the last 2 posts..?? Is it my computer or something regular on here now..can never get to start of a thread in so many instances..?
I'm having the same problem, not all the time, but often enough to notice. This happens whether my browser is Firefox 3.6.x or Google Chrome - I don't use I.E. so can't say about that browser. I close down the HHAD site then reopen it - that usually works, if not then I restart my browser.

Replies from site admin appreciated.

This occasionally happens when you click links from the "latest topics" list, it is third party code that can be 'quirky'.

Best way to avoid it is to use the view new posts link.

First time I used it tonight because discovered it about 30 minutes ago, but I like the 'Report Spam' button, which is the square with the exclamation mark in it next to a post, was wondering what that was.

Does it just ring alarm bells in the Admin/Mod world?

If so, then cool, let the regulars know. Does it help you gents or are you already on the case anyhow?

Yes, we get an alert on the reported thread.

Usually the offender gets a warning and the thread gets locked but that one was blatant spam so we just deleted the thread in entirety to save cluttering the board and topics list.

I have a private message and I get this when I try to read it...
You have 1 private message currently on hold because of full folder.
Release all on-hold messages… they will be re-sorted into the appropriate folder if enough space is made available.
I deleted about 20 older messages but I still cannot read the new one.

What do I do?

Never mind, I realized that after deleting I still had to click on "Release on all on hold messages".

I have the same problem with not seeing all the posts in a thread. It makes using the latest posts menu a real pain!

I thought that I'd posted this about 10 minutes ago :?

Pete and I discovered a bodge to get around your problem on page 8 of this thread. If you go back there, it should be fairly straightforward.

Suppose this isn't really important, just inquisitive, but how come when you go into the "Current Affairs" forum it says there are "X, Y and Z members and 2 guests?"

Didn't think guests could view that forum.

Doesn't everyone have to be registered and sign in to get in there or is it the paranoid "Hidden" lightweights?

Just noticed it tonight, bizarre.

I think the visitors or "guests" are intruders like Bot's and crawlers.
Nobody can read the thread without being logged in to the forum.

When I first tried to log on this morning I got the following:
General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

User huaaddfn_hhad already has more than 'max_user_connections' active connections [1203]

An sql error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact an administrator if this problem persists.
Was the forum really at the user limit or is this error for some other (unknown?) reason?

We were backing up the database so it may have been offline for 15 minutes or so.

C'mon BB, let us into the secret. How come you can be in 4-5 forums at the same time?

Seen it tonight and before too, is it just the omnipresent factor?

Just for interest..........

As an aside to the post, can anyone tell us how quickly the software updates. For example, I often sign out in the evening and then go back to the main index page as a "Guest" only to still see my name in the list of people signed in, often stays there for a while. I understand the "In the last 60 minutes" scenario but often when I do it in the afternoon it clears my name straight away.

Is it just the busyness factor?

Do you mean me? Not guilty, I've just come back from watching the Green Army thrash Swindon - only just signed in.
