Re: Textile shop in Hua Hin
Yes, Angelique (what a lovely name), there is a shop that sells material in the 'wet' market in the centre of town. I can't remember exactly where it was, but it was at one of the back walls i.e. it was a proper shop, not a stall. I bought loads of material from there to make curtains for our house when we lived near Hua Hin. They also stock all the other bits and pieces you'd need to make anything.
If you wander around the market (which is always a nice experience) you'll hopefully stumble upon it.
Good luck.

Hi there Angelique
Do you mean textiles for dressmaking or for soft furnishings & curtains?
If its dress fabrics, sewing cottons etc, there are two shops on Chomsin Road , they are fairly close together on the left hand side as you go towards the fishing piers, from the main Petchkasem Road. They have quite a decent range.
There are also a couple of good ones in Pranburi, if you can't find what you want please PM me and I will be happy to send you directions.
Cheers paderborn

As well as the ones on Chomsin and in ChatChai market - if you want to really splash out on silk fabric there is the Silk Village on Naebkerhardt Rd. Very upmarket and not cheap, but always worth a browse.

Carol: It's the undercover permanent market in the centre of the town. It's quite large and is a great place to buy fresh veggies and meat. We always used to buy our minced beef from there as well, as you can pick the chunk of meat and have it munched up through the mincing machine as many times as you like. Far better quality than anything I've bought from big chain supermarkets.
I think there's another thread on the possibility of it being redeveloped. I do hope that the powers that be see sense and realise that these kind of places offer a far better service than the trendy shopping malls.

Can anyone suggest a shop where I can buy drapes already made up?
I can get quite nice cotton ones here in Canada from IKEA @1000THB for 2 panels with tabs but I don't want to hump 15-20kg of fabric to Thailand.

There’s a fantastic curtain (drapes) shop on Soi 56, (which is on the left) just after the railway crossing. The shop has very large plate glass windows and the owners speak reasonable English.
Curtains are made to measure and they have a very large selection of material. They make the curtains reasonably quickly and at very good quality.
Cost was about 25% of the UK price for the equivalent product.

Thanks, I've seen the shop but have never been in. I'll go and have a chat with them.2dandan wrote:There’s a fantastic curtain (drapes) shop on Soi 56, (which is on the left) just after the railway crossing. The shop has very large plate glass windows and the owners speak reasonable English.
