We are heading there this year.

Would advise anyone planning to go to book accommodation ASAP. We booked ours about 3 weeks ago, and had difficulty in finding a hotel.

Its a very popular event in Surin.

I'd really like to see the festival and nearly made it a number of years ago.
Was staying up in Buriram province with my ex and some friends from back home. We got to Surin OK but I couldn't understand why all the elephants were walking out of the town centre. The reason was pretty simple - we'd arrived too late, at around lunchtime.
It was still a good laugh. Beers, food and plenty of fairground rides.
It would have been nice to have seen the elephant football though.

From what I can understand, there is now a new bus service that goes direct to Surin through the night leaving from the new bus station South of Market Villiage.
It's final destination is Ubon and I'm pretty sure it goes through Surin.

That would be ideal for me, it was a fair trek from Korat to Surin but this would be perfect for my GF and family, anybody got anymore info?

Yes, it's good for my partner as it goes through Nong Ki as well.
We were just driving past the bus station the other day when we saw a sign advertising the service. I imagine it will be quite popular as I know loads of people in Hua Hin who live along that route through Nong Ki, Nangrong and Surin.
