Not sure this approach will be welcome in Market Villageelem wrote:I agree w amarita, you can find 'some' farang sized bikinis in the middle stands at MV.
No fitting rooms, but the lady owner will gladly in a loud voice let you know that 'XL no fit, too small for Youuuu' and that an XXL or XXXL is better for you....there's nothing like the reality-check you get when you shop for these things in Thailand...

It's a funny thread this one, if you reverse the roles and visit western countries with your Thai wife then it's the other way round often.
If you're looking for clothes for an average Thai woman in the west then you'd probably find yourselves looking around the 16 year olds section.

My wife saves up all year for shopping when we go to Thailand. We usually take a large suitcase over filled with gifts, leftovers, second hand stuff, for relatives and on the way back it's full of her new clothes purchases!!
I'm of a size that it's harder to fit me in Thailand, and I'm not much of a clothes horse anyway so it's all hers!

Re: Bikinis for farang ladies
My wife had to shop at the expensive designer places like Ann Taylor and Banana Republic because they were the only ones who stocked size "0"! When she first went to live in the us I tried to encourage her to shop at the less expensive department stores but they usually started at size 4 on the small end! That was the beginning of my financial ruin!
I blame Sears for not carrying smaller sizes!

Hi, Thanks for all your helpful replies
and also thanks for the not so helpful replies, although some of them were quite amusing
The good news is the little lady (well not so little by Thai standards!
) ........ I've just been told to update that to read, "The nicely proportioned fuller figure farang lady" now has a new bikini
So in summary:-
Return mini bus to Bangkok = 360 baht
Trip to salon for the works = 5000 baht
Overnight hotel = 1500 baht
Various bargains to good to miss = 5000 baht (She tells me she actually saved 5000 baht!
)
One new bikini = 3500 baht
However little lady is happy
so PRICELESS

I'm fortunate that my Mrs isn't a fan of the Beach then.

Where's Johan? Wasn't he looking for a business idea. At those prices some enterprising individual should open up a "Farang Lady Bikini Shop" at the mall here!
