I'd imagine you could get chemical grade saltpetre at a larger chemist/pharmacy or Chinese pharmacy. I've been told the stuff sold at the Chinese Pharmacies looks like a stick of rock rather than crystalline in appearance as I'd expect.charleyboy wrote:I'm thinking of curing some pork. Could always buy 50 odd Kg's of Potassium Nitrate (or Nitrite) from the local farmers who would use as fertilizer...... certainly have enough to cure a few dozen pigs!!
