Puzzled

Post by Orange »

After several trips to Hua Hin and Thailand, and having met a good number of pleasant open minded and friendly expats and other foreign vistors, I am extemely puzzled by the reaction of many posters on here to certain subjects (if you follow the 'Current Affairs' forum you will know what i mean). Am I wrong in thinking that the accepted behaviour on here is of civil discussion, debate and an exchange of views, regardless of whether one agrees with someone or not? I thought that was the drive of the rules on here.

Is it accepted practice to not only make personal attcks against the poster but also to ridicule any supporting evidence prsented or to totally ignore it? I just would like to be clear as to how I should react, and what is acceptable under the forum rules, so i can respond in kind to other posters who present something I disagree with; my normal response would be to state that I disagree and why, and address the isuues raised, in a civil and polite way, rather than make unfounded accusations as to the identity of the person posting, or claiming boredom with the subject (why post that?) or make unsubstantiated claims of facts or information. I would just like to be clear exactly what i can or can't do because some posters seem to get away with things that are completely against the rules. I do not want to be banned for doing something that others do on here, so please can someone in authority clarify what is (and isn't) allowed as it is clear to me that the forum rules are broken regularly by some posters? Also if I (or anyone else) feel that someone has broken the rules, what should we do?

Orange, stop whinging, you give as good as you get and you know it. The whinging is about others not buying into what you have to say.

Orange, I know the thread you are talking about in "Current Affairs", and you would have to look at history on this forum to fully understand.

Do a little searching in that same area and just look at all the conspiracy threads that have been opened before and a few on that same conspiracy. They are mainly opened by the same two or three posters and others are just tired of the same old discussions over and over so there is some impatience shown within those threads.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Orange
I agree stop whinging.
If you want a discussion and are posting on HHAD why not discuss Hua Hin after all this is what this forum is about.
Could go AWOL and be lead by a horse rider if you enjoy conspiracy.

Moving this to Foo.

The rules of the forum can be found here: http://www.huahinafterdark.com/forum/vi ... php?t=1783

We try to refrain from moderating too heavily as we do not wish to become like other Thai forums.

May we remind you that this is a Hua Hin forum for discussion on Hua Hin and Thailand. The current affairs section is just a small add-on and does not reflect the content or nature of this forum. Those that use it and intend on posting controversial material should expect to get a lively response. Those that do not have the stomach for such should stick to Hua Hin topics.
