War of the roses restarts!!!!!!!!

Post by richard »

Some of you know I breakfast or lunch it at a certain small cafe on Petcha not too far from the Tessaban.

The ownership has changed recently but previous and present owners are from Blackpool. (new one is really a scouser). The bar is adorned with Flags. English, Welsh and Scottish. Plus giant size Man U posters so to all intent and purposes it's a Lancastrian cafe.

During the past few months I've found out that a small percentage of regular customers are from Yorkshire (Hull to be exact) so there is a good deal of friendly banter goes on

Got my West Yorkshire flag (I'm from Alifax not Ull) ready to drape round my neck for the next visit. All I need is a white rose to clench in my teeth    Better chat the flower girls up tonight

Usual Suspect. Your support is required

One of the reasons to avoid this greasy spoon. :)
At least Barry at Victoria is a lancastrian and you can be reassured that the insults and food have stood the test of time.

Seems I can't post anything now without being accused of advertising :guns: :guns:

Just where is the line drawn? I've seen many members 'so called' advertising on HHAD for that matter

Hospitals
Builders or handymen
Guest houses
Bars
Hotels

Non of them sponsors

Oops :run: :run:

Thanks    Sandman

I think I'm related to that Yorkshireman who has his farm slap bang in the middle of the M62 a stones throw from where I lived. Incidentally the stone was aimed westward as my Dad taught me

Although armed clashes had occurred previously between supporters of York and Lancaster, the first open fighting broke out in 1455 at the First Battle of St Albans. Several prominent Lancastrians died but their heirs remained at deadly feud with Richard. Although peace was temporarily restored, the Lancastrians were inspired by Margaret of Anjou to contest York's influence. Fighting resumed more violently in 1459. York was forced to flee the country, but one of his most prominent supporters, the Earl of Warwick, invaded England from Calais and captured Henry at the Battle of Northampton. York returned to the country and became Protector of England, but was dissuaded from claiming the throne. Margaret and the irreconcilable Lancastrian nobles gathered their forces in the north of England, and when York moved north to suppress them, he and his second son Edmund were killed in battle at the end of 1460. The Lancastrian army advanced south and recaptured Henry at the Second Battle of St Albans, but failed to occupy London, and subsequently retreated to the north. York's eldest son, Edward, Earl of March, was proclaimed King Edward IV. He gathered the Yorkist armies and won a crushing victory at the Battle of Towton early in 1461.

Think we lost eventually :banghead: :banghead:

Any road up........I may have been conceived in Lancashire and Yorkshire. The house where I was brought up was barely half a mile from Lancashire so despite being born in Yorkshire I may well have been conceived up on the moors close to the border. My parents often strayed up on to the moors. No jokes about sheep please. Only the Welsh and Kiwis do that

Maybe my top half is Lancs and bottom half is Yorks. Pick the bones out of that.

Strong int arm............................ :naughty: :naughty:

Erm.........Isn't it everyone making jokes about them instead, plus the wild Ozzies?

BTW, just between us, probably a good idea to not go near mentioning any restaurants' names at all Richard.

:naughty:

Edit - Unless, of course, there's another Xmas BBQ on the picture front for us to get our teeth into. :naughty:

Sorry Richard, having inference issues on the first bit of that last post of mine, understand now, retract the first sentence of the last post I made, but the rest stands.

In future when a request 'where is the best place for fish & chips' is posted I will post 'check the sponsor list, PM a mod or hit the street and ask a passing farang'   :duck:
