I have many hidden powers, But i think you need to read the post a little closer, i would be correct in thinking i do not need to elaborate on the point being made,

Hi Dave,

I wan't suggesting that construction workers were responsible.... I was just using the example of the conditions the construction workers live in as an example of the gap between rich foreigners and poor Thais that will, in my opinion, lead to resentment and more crime in the long run.

This subject came up before on another thread,

And i have to agree that with the amount of farangs living in large houses and splashing money around it will of course cause ill feeling.

I am sure we would feel the same in our own respected countries.

Mike.

Surely only ill feeling with a tiny minority?
I generally find that the Thai people in Takiap are even more friendly than people in town.
Robberies are nothing to do with resentment. If anything, the influx of money is seen as an opportunity for everyone, including the robbers.
Muggings, robberies are commited by people who see it as easy money and sometimes just do it for kicks. This is the same the world over.
Not nice, but a fact of life.

Unfortunately, you're correct IMHO.
Just read the post Peter from Pattaya put on here regarding Samui.
Nor did I want to tarnish the theives with "fair ground attraction".
Unfortunately, it's a fact of life when the rich and poor live live side -by-side in this country and there are racial gaps.
