This time in Hua Hin I went straight to the actual tailors, rather than the Indian shops who only act as a retail outlet. This was so much easier because they knew what they were doing. They got my measurements right first time (the Indians never get it right first time), and I'm very pleased with the results. My son saw the shirts I had made, and went down and ordered 3 for himself - again, perfect first time.

From the outside, you can see it's a real sweat shop. No plastic facade, no air conditioning, no comfy seats etc. You could even say it was dirty. However, while I was there, it was very popular with Bangkokians putting in their order on a Friday to collect on their way home on the Monday (it was a Bank Holiday weekend), and several Indian tailors turned up to collect their orders. Don't forget, irrespective of appearances, this is where your order will be made regardless of where you order it. They are more than happy to take walk in business. My lack of Thai was not a problem.

Price? I'm not sure I saved very much, if anything at all. However, for them to get my clothes perfect at the first attempt is no mean feat. Those who know me will know that I am not a regular shape,

Where is it? Go to the top of Soi 80, and it's about 3 buildings from the end of the Soi on the left. They have one of those concrete chess tables outside.

I was very impressed with the service.

May the evil eye be upon you, all your tandoori turn black, and walk in dog poo for eternity for revealing such secrets! :duck: Pete

As a matter of interest, and if you don't mind me asking BB - what kind of prices were you paying? Would just be interesting to compare against prices I've seen in China/Hong Kong.

Yes, that looks like the place TimandT - thank you.

Pharvey, before you baulk at the prices, please remember that I am larger than most (probably double the fabric per garment). This visit I had 6 shirts, and 3 pairs of trousers made for work. Shirts were 600 Baht each and trousers were 1500 Baht each.

Good price or not, I was happy.

Yes they do, but the samples are not large. Before I visited, my daughter went down and collected their pattern books, which allowed me to choose before I got there.
