Surin to Bangkok

I will be driving from Surin to Swampy on a Monday and I need to be at Swampy by 5 pm. What time will I have to leave Surin ? Thanks in advance, can't afford to miss my flight !

Just to grease the wheels for those in the know Pagey, is 5PM your take off time or about 2 hours before?

One thing I think I can say for certain is that the New Year holiday travelers will have already left and be home by Sunday night. However, the truck traffic may be back with a vengeance starting Monday morning to make up for lost days. Over to others. Pete

Google maps says 7hrs 3 mins, but to be on the safe side I would go for a 07:30 kick off

I will estimate the bus trip between Surin and Bankok will be around seven hours, plus the transport time between Mochit and Suvarnabhumi + two hours check-in time = Around 7: AM from Surin.

Pagey said he is driving, so no need for the bus or the trip between Mochit and Swampy.

07:30 is early enough, and you could push it to 08:00 if need be.

Not flying until 8 pm so 5 pm at airport to give me an hour to drink a bottle of wine in the lounge before heading back to the 'dry' magic kingdom.

I was hoping for a lie in and a leisurely breakfast with real pork sausages also.....looks like thats out of the window

IMO, yeah at 0900. You have a ton of time with your 3 hour window. There's more than one route as well. What's your plan and perhaps some can suggest a short cut? Pete

No plan Pete. We are at a weddding in a hotel the night before. She will drop me off at Swampy then head back to HH. I have never been before.............

What about route there then from HH ? She says 'I think I know the way'.............so I better prepare. Possibly 2 routes required, one avoiding Bkk and one going there as she has to pick up her dress sometime between now and the 7th................

I drove from Surin town to the Sukhumvit area of Bangkok a month ago...took me 6.5 hours, including a 45 min stop at Chokchai Steakhouse for lunch.

The train is good. You can get 2nd cl or or 1st 2nd is like coach seats on Air Asia but at that price jnust get two seats an lavish. th do offer food but I brougt some alone.. Long Ride. If going to on the way back get of at Don Muang and Taxi into BKK unless you are headed to China town or near by. You can get the MRT if you are light on the bags!

Man o man, I feel bad about this. My apologies Pagey. It appears today, Monday, is also a holiday and the biggest commute day for those coming home from holiday trips. I thought they would all be home by Sunday night. I hope you don't get stuck in traffic coming from Surin this morning and have left yourself enough time. again. Pete
