Exman,

Trying to send money out of Thailand is not the easiest thing to do.

I know someone who wanted to send money back to England to pay a few yearly bills. The bank wanted to see documented evidence about what the money was for, and only after submitting all paperwork to their head office and gaining permission would the request be granted. For small amounts this seems to be not a problem.

For larger amounts it can be almost impossible. Add into the problem that the powers that decide may also want to know where the money came from, was it money earnt in Thailand, has all tax been paid on it, have you the correct visa and permits. Letter from the owner of your house to prove your address. You may just be bringing a lot of unwanted attention to yourself and lifestyle here in Thailand.

Thailand is very happy for you to transfer money into your account here, but don't like you to send it back the other way.

Solution - Western Union Express.

You can ask your bank to send any amount you like using this service, you will have to pay them in cash for the amount you are transferring, you will need someone you trust at the other end to collect the money for you and put into your bank account.
Western union offices in all countries are available at most American Express Outlets for collecting money.
Fees I think are about 2 - 3%. Not cheap but hassle free.

Exman, I guess it depends on the amount.
I have sent some payments of 300,000 Baht to UK and I just had to fill out a normal transfer form.
Maybe the answer is Western Union or several small amounts as above.

I think it basically boils down to :
What you've brought in, you can take out as long as there's a proven route from overseas.
Any "profit" you make is subject to tax, just like any other country.
