Update :
Drove to Bkk on the Friday and spent the night there (long story.....usual Thai stuff of not telling the full story). Left Bkk at 10.30 am on Saturday and arrived Surin at 5 pm with 2 pit stops of around 20 minutes each.
Left Surin on Monday at 9.30 am and only had one short 10 minutes break. Needed to be at airport around 5 pm. Traffic (lorries) only a problem on the single lane road out of Surin where I had to slow to around 80 kmph until I could overtake. Once on multiple lane roads I was doing 120-140 kph and made such good time that we decided to go to her condo in Bkk and was in the condo at 2.30 pm. Good job really as after about 3 hours her car A/C seems to pack in so really needed a shower and change of clothes before going to the airport.
Pete : Didn't notice any extra traffic on the Monday but thanks for the heads up.
P.S. Got to the airport around 5 pm to check in and there was a notice on the counter that my flight to Doha was delayed by 1.5 hours
