I was very close to Don and the circumstances and there were some payoffs to and from people that he mentioned to make this go away or take an extended time to play out in court. This is one of the worst travesties of justice I've ever witnessed anywhere and that's saying a lot in LOS. People with money can get away with anything it seems while others of us who are just living are subject to the whims of those people. That's why I stay home most of the time where I feel safe!
Very true HHF. Money speaks in the LOS and rarely more so than in this case. BUT - much as I sympathise with Don - no-one should ever have to suffer what he has - and still is - going through at the hands of some unscrupulous farang led development company - let's be quite honest about this....
Don was warned by many people to back off and cut his losses. He was warned in no uncertain terms that HuaHin was no longer a safe place for him to be. He chose to stay and try to fight, and whilst doing so even referred (to me at least) to the Brits in HH as being looked upon by Americans like him as 'trailer trash'.
At that point I stopped my correspondence with him.
So whoever this KhunChalong is I would advise him to be certain of his cause before attempting to stir things up again.
I do not in any way condone the actions of any property developers who may have borne such a grudge against Don as to do that to him. Nor do I condone the fact that whoever was behind the hit is getting away with it. But he didn't heed warnings or help himself to avoid the very apparent risks at the time.

Wouldn't a more useful gesture be a 'great rally of support' from THAIS. Taking a stand against the injustice within their own system which allows such activity to go on unpunished?

Bang on MrP, they couldn't give a toss what foreigners say, no matter how many times it's said.

Spot on Mr P - but we all know it won't happen.

Sorry this is off topic but does anyone know if any court proceedings have started and if so the outcome. Or is it to early under the Thai Judicial system?

Bit of a moot point really. The Thai judicial system and its consequences can be "bypassed" for a price. Really though, this perp should already be in the slammer in the UK a long time ago.

Thailand is a scumbags' paradise though, as we all know.
