High-speed pupils

Post by usual suspect »

While on my way for breakfast this morning, tootling along on my 'clunk' I was 'buzzed' (overtaken on either side) by school-boys on new Honda Clicks, each bike had 3 kids on, no helmets worn, and doing more than twice the speed of the other traffic, weaving in and out till out of sight.
Now reading the Bangkok Post this week, there's much attention to the girl who caused that mini-bus to crash killing 9 people.
The focus has now turned to the person who let her use the car knowing she was only 16 and had
no licence, calling for the said person to be charged as an accessory to the incident.
So then, these kids all over the country turn up at school on a new m/cycle, with no licence,
no insurance, bike will be in parents name/paid for by them, no helmets worn, doing this trip twice
a day, often 3 on the bike..and the schools for years have allowed this to happen as if normal, as have the parents..I just hope one of these crazy kids does not hit you or I and cause us injury
one day..if it ever did happen..you know the police would be there in a shot...no, not at the accident scene...at the parents house for hush-money.. :(

Absolutely US, as an aside, when it comes to kids, parents and others, the basic problem here is that nobody gives a fcuk about anything.

I bought a fancy scooter that features a 50ccm engine only. Everbody told me I neither need a license plate nor insurance (given the small engine). However I wanted to get insurance in case I cause damage to anyone else. Althought I asked for that insurance repeatedly all I got was: "no need" ...
