Railway to get 2nd line
Mrs U.S. just got notification from the SRT that within/in about 2 years they are going to 'upgrade'
the rail line South to 2 lines. (but only if they have the funding).
It does however mean (if she' read the letter right) that all the shops and restaurants on the
Railway-road South of the station will go..in order to facilitate the new line AND new road.
(It is railway land either side of that road South of the station).
Wonder if they could take this 'new road' all the way to the flyover at the Takiap-split..??

THe Chinese are determined to link Singapore with China (Kumming) they have recently announced that they will effectivly fund the part through Laos--the speed at which the Chinese build railways is staggering--The Beijing >> Shanghai link will open over 6 months ahead of schedule (A very fast Schedule) I am sure that the Chinese will offer, expertise and money to subsidise the Vientiane >> Bkk >> Butterworth segments and that will help Hua Hin

Oh, the Chinese are determined??? Wonder what they will determine next. Absorb the rest of Indo China?? Perhaps like the Germans only a few decades back: They need Lebensraum.....Dr Mike wrote:THe Chinese are determined to link Singapore with China (Kumming) they have recently announced that they will effectivly fund the part through Laos--the speed at which the Chinese build railways is staggering--The Beijing >> Shanghai link will open over 6 months ahead of schedule (A very fast Schedule) I am sure that the Chinese will offer, expertise and money to subsidise the Vientiane >> Bkk >> Butterworth segments and that will help Hua Hin

That's not far fetched. What would happen with massive crop failures in China, coupled with the rest of the world saying, enough, we can't sell you more or we won't have enough for ourselves. The same applies to many other resources as well. Implosion time, or invasion time? Pete

I'm afraid I'll believe the dual track when I see it - and I'm not holding my breath! This plan had been on the back burner for at least 10 years....

Believe it when I see it....
Those shops by the railway were supposed be to knocked down a couple of years ago....to make
way for a new road....

Good one Richard!

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

And then add an hour or two to the quoted times... Every time I have used the train in recent years the delays have been extreme. Much as I enjoy the atmosphere of the train journey, I just cant be dealing with it when a minibus takes two hours.Big Boy wrote:It depends which train you catch. Depends on whether time is of the essence.

Thailand is making very very little progress, too much silliness in this country. Sad
