Familiarity breeds contempt! Just watch the Thais scoot/drive around barriers.

Citizens/tourist/others safety is not an official concern in the main (yes, they may waffle on about it for a PR effect  ), hence the inaction on this particular one and the on-running results with all the tiresome news stories everyday about the contrary all over the kingdom.

In countries such as the one we occupy it's a case of 'every man/woman for himself' and that's the deal, take care of oneself regarding safety.

A lack of general education plus a degree of promotion of base line acceptable social parameters through media on many fronts say much, usually through general indifference, make it a personal responsibility issue for the average population.

Sorry to say, but these subjects appear not to be a priority for the local Thai administration, even if we believe it to be an on running glaring hazard that should be fixed.

Forgive my slightly indifferent response people, but perhaps no-one cares that is in a position to do something about it, selfishness rules.

Also this one in question that goes over to the Golf Course, doesn't seem to resemble any train crossing most would have come into contact with, it just happens to be a bit of a unique set-up. But there's no signs I could see about a train crossing, and you don't approach the crossing facing it, but turn into it from maybe 10-12 feet away. Also the ground the tracks are sitting on is raised higher than the road, so not sure how much of the tracks you'd see until you are almost on them. After 18:30pm, you could probably drive across it without even knowing it, in all seriousness.
