Re: firework
Hopefully someone will reply with a source. As a side note, unless the hotel is a small, private establishment I doubt you'll be able to do it. The large hotels of course don't want to lose the revenue, but IMO they'll tell you they can't allow it on the basis of property and guest safety as the company putting on the display is not under their control or employ. Hi there, no fireworks company, but there is a shop. Travel north towards Bangkok at the first set of traffic lights [burger king set] Then i think before the next set of lights on your left is a chinese type shop, you will see a heap of fire works for sale in there.[they are out the front can't miss it] A packet of about 8 rockets is about 1500 baht. Can buy all types of them there. I have found the really big round ones to be unreliable, good idea to launch them from a plastic pipe, so you know where there going. Launch at about 75 degree angle, as they have a wooden stick that comes back to earth a bit hard. Hope that helps

Thanks Jimmy40, Prcscct,
I'll go looking for the store.
Do you think private firework is allowded on the beach, or do I need some kind of permit ?
I can't ask the police, as they will "sell" me a permit

Don't want to sound too negative here, but this has trouble/problems written all over it. Setting fireworks off on your own land at a party is one thing, initiating an impromptu party on the beach, getting pissed-up, and then letting loads of fireworks off may attract the wrong kind of "attention."I'll go looking for the store.

I'm not saying it's not possible to do but perhaps some advice from a Thai would be a good idea, also might depend on what part of the beach it is.
Regarding the fireworks themselves you can generally often buy seem to be the "Made in China" variety that may not be quite as reliable as what you are expecting, definitely to be handled with care and balls.
I remember buying these averagely available fireworks for a bash when I was on Kho Tao and the warning label on them read "Light fuse and run away."

Regarding the police, they may turn up off their own bat to see what is going off on the beach.
However, I could be completely wrong and it's fine to do it, but would do some checking first if I was going to do it as nothing here in LOS tends to be as easy as it would appear.

Well, with all due respect, we've been letting off many of the ''Made in China'' fireworks for many years - however, as SF says, perhaps ''handled with care and balls''Spitfire wrote:Regarding the fireworks themselves you can generally often buy seem to be the "Made in China" variety that may not be quite as reliable as what you are expecting, definitely to be handled with care and balls.

Seriously, regardless of where they are made - fireworks at the end of the day are explosives and it's not a great idea to handle them pissed!! Something which in a party atmosphere is going to happen. If you really want them, pay the money, get the professionals to handle them and put on the show you want (TIT

IMHO spend the money on something else.

Judging by the responses thus far, you have 2 choices - pay through the nose at the hotel, or do without.
Sorry I couldn't have been of any help Marino, but sincerely hope you have a great wedding and I'm sure that fireworks (gunpowder type

Hi again everyone, i have to not agree a little here. I have been told that as long as its SOME type of celebration its fine to launce fireworks. The so called proffesionals i have seen have about 1/3 the idea i have. I have seen them using speaker cable for there electric fuses at the kings birthday
Sure don't be to pissed but as long as its in a tube facing the ocean, let em go i reckon
But as said above the reliability is a bit shonky. Make sure if it doesn't go boom wait 1 minute before you approach it.Then just kick the tube over to the ground, to unload it. Treat with caution, as the magnesium is super hot when on you close up[the colour bit].Apart from that i sent up 2 big ones last night, mum was here and we are not allowed commercial stuff in oz, and or anything bigger than a sparkler in OZ anymore.[unless you carry the proper state license] Even then everything is tripple counted.
I worked closely with the Helidon sandstone mines, we sent of some major charges there, not one failure.Just youse a bit of common sense have a nice night cheers

Sorry to be a little bit late for this post.
Yes, fireworks are allowed everywhere when some big things happens. I had a really big fireworks in Kata Beach without any celebration two years ago?
Now it is New Year to come, and I really dont hesitate to make a big bang at 24:00 in Hua Hin. Not happens at the beach!

And, as Jimmy40 mentioned there are many small shops selling these in that area. Just after tailors. Some sell only from street outside, with a better price, I think.
