Anyone know their PARROTS?
A couple of months ago, this parrot simply flew into our restaurant one evening and made himself / herself at home!
Mrs T made enquiries with the neighbours and nobody claimed it.
One of my lads caged it and we subsequently re housed it in a specially constructed Hua Hin Fishing Lodge Parrot's Hilton!
It's very tame - can be handled easily and is obviously used to being around people.
I have been told that it is possibly a 'ROSELLA' from OZ - but I cannot find a suitable match on the web.
So - Any Parrott Experts out there who can tell what kind of bird this is? Also - male or female?

Re: Anyone know their PARROTS?
Well, it ain't a Norwegian Blue, cause it's the right way up on the perch.
I'll get my coat.
I'll get my coat.

I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

Lovely plumage, thow. And no pining for the fjords.

Re: Anyone know their PARROTS?
It looks very much like a Sun Canure Parrot. See the link here

I never forget a face but in your case I'll make an exception!

It is coloured like a 'ROSELLA' from OZ, but they are a much bigger bird than that.

You realise of coarse, that you are harboring an illegal immigrant, for which there are severe penalties.

Re: Anyone know their PARROTS?
Yes, this is all extremely strange if it is what H2O says it is. They seem to be rare and a very limited range no where near to Asia. Someone look for a guy with an eye patch and wooden leg, speaking Spanish and looking for his parrot. Any strange ships anchored in the harbour?

Re: Anyone know their PARROTS?
On a slightly different note, admittedly an obvious one perhaps, but that parrot has definately escaped from someone's house or private collection, it's probably on the expensive side too.
Another possibility is that it was stolen and the perp has just released it, due to being unable to sell it and not knowing what to do with it, or the cops were closing in on them and they just let the evidence fly away.
Strangly, there is quite a lot of money in stealing these types of birds to order or just smuggling them to collectors etc. You would be surprised how many indigenous folks collect exotic birds and the like.
It is obviously highly unlikely that there is not a story behind this bird, a very crushed previous owner or an irate perp.
As mentioned by someone else earlier, these birds have a very low nature range, not long distance types, it's "off it's turf" so to speak.
