Who sells screen doors?

Post by Homer »

Tried Home Pro in market village. Found the doors, but no screen doors. Nobody I asked had a clue. When I rented a place at Condo Chain, there were so many different types of screen doors that some of the floors looked like a screen door showroom.

If you're heading north out of HH, there's glass merchant on your right, just before a lighting shop. Sorry, not sure what soi is closest, but you'll see a PVC shower cubicle display outside the shop. If you go it, they can speak some English, and yes they make screens for doors and windows to order. For standard sized windows, they charge 200 to 250 baht per window. Not sure what door screens cost.

Just your average sized window. BTW......it's not the windows that cost 200 baht. It's the screens they charge 200 to 250 baht for. We were thinking of getting screens for all our windows and they said the price would be a little less if the did screens for several windows. Still don't have any screens though because just don't like them - they restrict air flow and obscure the view

Oh yes, you can get locks for just over 200 baht at the door/wood shop heading out towards Cha-am. I think they charge 240 baht and the same make/brand costs about 400 here in HH central.

I use that shop for wooden doors. The owners are family of a friend. A couple of snapshots of the screens we use. Nice lady and she does a good job for less than the other place mentioned quoted us.

Any of the glass shops make screens for both doors and windows.....we've had them made by places in Pranburi, Hua Hin and Cha Am......price depends on your situation, i.e. if you have a Thai wife she'll be able to get them for around three thousand baht per door (two pieces).

Two posters have mentioned 'screens for doors'. I speak American, not English, so I don't know if that's the same thing as a 'screen door'. Here is what I'm talking about. Same same?

I only can see the top 1/4 of the picture or so Homer, but that doesn't look like a factory screen door we would find at home in Calif. I was thinking you were looking for sliding glass door screens.

If you want an factory made screen door your 're probably going to have to hunt through the larger stores around Bangkok.......there's one being built by the Palace but I've forgotten the name of it.....starts with a B.

I just Googled True Value and they have stores in Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya......maybe you could order one there.

Had those fugly ones custom fitted to a friends house. Front and back door were around 1400 baht each. mainly use alu-wood ones these days as they are far more attractive.

Gee, I thought this would be easy ...

Googling has turned up that Home Pro sells automatic screen door closers. No mention of screen doors. Leads me to believe that Home Pro's in larger markets than HH sell them, but no mention of any kinds of doors on their web site.

Others than myself wonder why the F* doesn't everybody have screen doors? It's hot with biting bugs (some with serious health hazard) and the cheapest and easiest way to cool a room is to have big holes in the walls. Holes for doors already exist, so screening them seems to be the easiest answer. I can understand why the Thais don't have screen doors (T.I.T.) but what don't you farangs have them? Especially in HH where it's often windy.

Try flyscreens
Most are bespoke as doors are nearly always cut to size.Homepro does not deal in this type of thing.
Every aluminium window shop will make them. Hua HIn Glass is one for sure that can do different qualities Petchaseam rd soi 47ish
Most houses I have seen have them -on the inside so not visible from the street.Thai entrance doors tend to open outwards- rain is more of a problem than wind.
For retractable pull down ETC. try the curtain shops they are sometimes agents.
It is easy if you will only accept Homepro is not the place to buy them :banghead:

Poosmate is correct. All the Ally places will make them or be able to get them. Service and quality varies. So does price.Have a lovely breeze here at the moment through the house. You are welcome to take a look at the screens on a couple of the houses round here if you are passing soi 88.

Happy Chinese new year.
