That is a useful site Terry.
One particular item of note is the correct use of adaptors to connect the continental type plugs that most appliances are supplied with to Thai sockets. Not many people are aware of that.

Tesco, Homepro, hardware shops, Grand market, electrical / lighting shops all have them.

Usually round black rubber style but Homepro have more modern white plastic ones.

Thanks chopsticks. I've spent many an hour walking in Tesco and Homepro, and have never noticed them

Must be going blind in my old age....

In Tesco they're in the tools aisle.

Finding them in Homepro is more taxing - could try asking one of the many helpful sales assistants - or take one as a sample to show them. (If I remember correctly they're made by Heyco have a neon indicator light and packed individually in small cellophane bags)

Good resource, it is amazing how often the electrics get overlooked in Thai builds - if it works when you turn it on its fine eh?

The concept of a ring main doesn't exist here either, no wonder the voltage drops the further you go from the CU!
