Hua Hin & Cha-am to become special administration zone

Post by Super Joe »

From the Nation ...

Two coastal districts, Hua Hin and Cha-am, have been designated for upgrade into a special administrative zone, designed as a pilot project for sustainable development to mark the 84th Birthday of His Majesty in December.

The Interior Minister will next Tuesday seek the Cabinet approval to merge the two districts under the special administration. Hua Hin, the location of Klaikangwon Palace, is presently under the provincial jurisdiction of Prachaub Khiri Khan while Cha-am is in Phetchaburi province.

The special administration of Hua Hin and Cha-am is expected to enhance the development of tourism and to streamline the management of royally-initiated projects in the area.

Wasn't this kind of thing planned already a few years ago? The Thai Riviera it was called, if my memory serves me right and the real name was supposed to be "Klai Kangwol" -province.

Yes BG. I think Pranburi - Hua Hin and Cha Am was the three towns in question that was to form this new province. Around two years ago if I remember correct.

This is what was being quoted in the media last time around when they were going for this new 77th province that was up for grabs. But this new report today reads like a different proposal on first sight, no mention of provinces, but a special administration zone, and specifically says 'the districts' of HH & CA!?
"Klai Kang Won province would have Hua Hin City as its centre and consist of Pran Buri and Sam Roi Yot districts, which are now in Prachuap Khiri Khan, and Cha-am district, which is now part of Phetchaburi."
So this may not be relevant at the end of the day.

Just read that this whole thing was first started in 2003 :o
