Indian Navy rescues hijacked Thai fishing vessel off Somalia

This is interesting, apparantly this fishing vessel was Thai in origin and was being used as a mothership for the pirates, no info on the nationalities of the hostages in the report but guess that some were Thai.

The report mentions that this is one of 3 Thai fishing vessels taken by pirates off Somalia, one other was sunk in an exchange of fire.

Got to admit that isn't Somalia a little far for an average Thai fishing vessel to wander to, it would have to be a deep sea vessel I'd imagine, in other words huge, it's a long way for a "fishing vessel" to go to from Thailand.

As I know a limited amount about it but I'm still slightly surprised to be honest. Is it a regular Thai fishing ground as 3 of them have been taken?

Yes, I suppose conserving Thai fish etc stocks here is a bit of a moot point, never going to see the light of day.
