So what is going on around here and where does it happen? This section is for discussion on local events, festivals, and holidays as well as activities and things to do.

As far as I know, not directly from Hua Hin. There are Islands that are small and I think uninhabited off Pak Nam Pran that some of the tour boats go to like Barry's (he's an advertiser here and has a thread). Other than that Koh Tao is the nearest small populated island but you will need to drive a couple of hours south (Chumpon, I believe) to get a ferry to that one.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

There are a couple of small uninhabited rocky islands off Hua Hin (Lion Island) which are ok for fishing sometimes.

And, as hhfarang said, more uninhabited islands (except for the monkeys, that is) at Dolphin Day (Kao Sam Roi Yod).
We do day trips to there on one of our boats.

More islands at Prachuabkirikhan, including Ko Jan, where you can snorkel, though I think the island itself is privately owned.

After that, it's Ko Talu at Bang Saphan, also a private island though with tourist accommodation, clear waters and snorkeling.

Are there any arranged trips to these islands? I mean, do you have to own a boat yourself, or are there plenty of boats that will take you to these islands?

Here's a comprehensive guide to all the islands/island groups of Thailand. It describes what's on the island, how developed it is and how to get there/activities/where to stay in applicable cases...
