I have eaten snake before, but in the U.S., not here (to my knowledge ). The lizards are safe (if that's what Ting Tongs are) as I always keep some quick meals or snack food around the house.

WTF is that! Give me the blueberry cheesecake any day...
But you're right KD about UK (and no doubt other) restaurants cutting corners. Dumbing down as well. Our Indian restaurant meals tend to be just pre-prepared curry sauces ready to sling in whatever meat is ordered. Khorma is only mild - Vindaloo is only hot. The scary thing is how many people think it's great.

Siani - don't worry too much about the diet. A few months in LOS and a couple of litres of water a day and any excess weight should go without any effort!

I can cook fairly decently but it came to an abrupt end when I met my Thai g/f. When she first saw me reach for a saucepan, from the kitchen cupboard, she halted the movement with the sweetest smile and brow-furrowed concern, gazed lovingly into my eyes and said... "Man not do"

When I attempted to help wash up afterwards, it came again, this time with a blown kiss... "Man not do"

When I finished my food and went to pick up the plate and take it into the kitchen... she dashed over, in panic, her faint perfume making me giddy with the aroma of lilacs... "Man not do"

As the years have passed and the rosy glow faded, she says exactly the same thing now, only through gritted teeth... "Man not do!!"

This is why we now eat out.

Actually, she's great.

Hmmm. Richard, have you ever come across Currywurst? The latest teutonic delicacy? I really find it all rather amusing when Germans quite sincerely criticise English food, while tucking into sausage from pureed mechanically recovered meat, smothered in ketchup and topped off with spoons full of raw, uncooked curry powder! Mmmmm Lecker - Not!
