130 M16s, other guns stolen from Army depot

Prachin Buri - At least 130 M16 assault rifles and an unknown number of motars and 11-mm pistols have been stolen from the Thanarat Infantry Corps headquarters here.
Police said troops on duty found that the guns have gone missing Thursday night and they filed complaint with police Friday morning.

Comment - Well, honestly, can't even secure assault weapons in an army base, useless imo, then make a complaint to the police and give them the problem. It's not like it's in Yala or something, Prachin buri is near Chachansoa/Chon Buri.....

Smells suspicious....but then again, the army is a rule unto itself and does whatever it pleases. However, should be able to do better than that imo.

How about a transparent enquiry into security at bases by an independent panel?............ :lach:......Just kidding folks. :thumb:

I noticed that in the comments section of the Nation, someone was pointing out that it's hardly surprising when the Sergeant-Major in charge of the armory is described as a 'known arms dealer'!
