Bangkok to HH, taxi with a baby seat??

Does anyone know of a cab firm that will pick us up from Don Muang, but who also has a baby seat they can put in the car?

I've found companies on the net in BKK, but they want to charge around 2800 baht. So just wondered if any of you HH residence know of anyone local to you with a better price?

P.S. I do realise that usually babies are put in the front basket of Honda Wave's in LOS when travelling . Also my Thai wife had never seen a babies car seat until she came to the UK. Still worth a try though!

with the price of petrol seemingly increasing every other day 2800 baht is not a bad price to pay. I make that same trip 8 times a year always using the same driver and pay him 2500.....they do have to make a profit

Yeah perhaps you're right, on another site I go on, people have said you can get there for 1800 baht. My Mrs would rather get the bus, after a long flight with a load of beer, I'd rather pay 2800 baht myfelf.

You could do it for 1,800 before gas went up or if you know the driver personally, 2,500 seems to be the going rate now days.

I've never seen a taxi with a baby seat though.

Yeah, same here, it was only because I'd seen them by accident on a BKK taxi site. Like I said, babies normally go next to the dog in the front basket of the motorbike eh!

As for the fuel increase, fair comment, if it's only an extra 300 baht they are trying to charge me, no problem!

I do know know how it works in Thailand but you cannot have a baby in the front of the car in Australia.
In a normal car, they have to be in a secured capsule that is fitted in the centre of the rear seat and the baby is then harnessed in.
In a Taxi, it is the same, if you want a cab you must make sure that you order one with a baby seat before it arrives.
Perhaps it may be best to let you wife hold the baby in the back seat while you are in the taxi, will probably be a lot safer

I pay 1500bht for taxi from bangkok to Hua hin and 1600 from Hua hin to Bangkok.
If you have a car seat there are a couple of larger taxis , or hire a minivan I have a guy that comes from Hua Hin to Bangkok to get us and he only charges 1800bht for a whole minivan !!

are you planning on only traveling with the child one time,?

We found a company in Hua Hin who had a baby seat. We came out in June, so unfortunately the trip is now over.

It was the first time we travelled with our baby, but after getting on buses, tuk tuks, sam lors & all sorts, we gave up worrying after a while!

I bring a booster seat with us when traveling to Thailand. I have found the available car seat are not the proper size for my son and not well constructed.

I am glad that you found some place to rent one from!!
