Hi all
Just back for a wee break in Hua Hin and on day one after doing some gardening I had a visitor come say hello ..
Can anyone tell me what type of snake it is and if there dangerous? there should be a photo attached to this thread

You're going to get a lot of different answers from the alleged experts, including me
I'll go for rat snake once again and not dangerous. Pete

I suggest you contact Vern the Snakeman.
On the top right of his website you can click a snake identification button.
Send him all the info you got (you can even attach a good picture!) and you will very soon receive an email back.
He is not an all knowing expert and does not claim to be, but surely better than the average layman.
Give it a try and would be nice if you let us know the outcome.

I tried that Roel with the one in our garden, but Vern came back and said he was in two minds. Excellent website thoughRoel wrote:I suggest you contact Vern the Snakeman.

I don't know what kind it is but it's probably the most common snake I've encountered here. I've seen lots of them, though not that big and when I've seen them they are usually in pairs. I'm with Pete in thinking that they are not dangerous.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Re: Can anyone identify this snake
No expert, but I really don't think it's a cobra, so at least that's a bit of good news. I'm also with Pete, and would guess it's a rat snake. At our place, it seems only cobras and Malaysian pit vipers like to visit
Just had a huge cobra in the garden the other night which my rottweiler alerted me to (as she always does), and even though she's such a heavy dog, she was quick enough to avoid being bitten, and believe, the snake sure was trying, and also hissing like hell. Anyway, hope find the correct answer. Oh, btw, while rat snakes are harmless, they will still bite if you try and corner them.

Don't try to impress me with your manner of dress cos a monkey himself is a monkey no less - cold fact

Could be a painted bronzeback. Harmless and turn blue when scared. There again it would be the biggest one I have seen and I am no expert and am going by the pics in the little snake book.

Snakes? Watch out for the centipedes.
Had one that made an appearance the other day and it was about a foot long. Scary, because they can move really quickly when they want to but this one was fairly sedate.
Just look at the ground after it's been raining because there could be snakes (to bring it back on topic) and other nasty things.

My, hasn't he grown? He was little more than a worm the last time I saw him.Randy Cornhole wrote:I think the snake you saw is called Brian.
