Anyone else know Canadian Fred 73yrs old cyclist traveller

Post by fach3003 »

Hi all
i was up the Cha am station the day as my son
wanted to see the too toos...
Whilst there i bumped into the older gent
with his old racing bike with bags tied on...
We had a natter than i discovered he was going back
to Bangkok...on his final leg of his 3 and half month
6000km tour of Thailand and Malaysia...

He told me he brings a bike over and gives it away in BKK
sleeps in a hammock normally under the stars or near a temple
with the odd hotel thrown in...

he also said its been cold the last few nights brrr brrr....

Fit as a fiddle he was...

Hes back again for more over the winter!

Great to meet him anyone know more of him????

hes been coming here since 1961....

Highlight of another great day here...

Regards
Fach

Yes I've seen a guy who fits the description down in HatYai a few years ago. He likes the oyster cafes there! Reminds me though there used to be another 'character' who travelled around a lot and was often in HH in the very early 00's - we used to call him 'Dreadlocks' for obvious reasons - although he was a youngish white guy - Scandinavian maybe. Does anyone see him around these days?

He may well be the guy living at my Condo complex in Bangkok. A short, blonde haired guy. He mostlly keeps it coiled up on his head, but when it is unrolled it reaches the ground. It is always tidy and under control, but how he takes care of it with the climate here escapes me. :?

Hi Nereus - that could be him. Taller than me though at around 5' 8 maybe a tad more. I would guess he would be in his 40's now.
Funny thing with dreadlocks - they reckon that after a while the scalp stops producing a lot of oil so hair can be much easier to take care of naturally. I don't think I'll try it!
