It reads: Please do not steal - the government doesn't like competition!
The above quote from Barry's post on another thread is attributable to the aforementioned, as well as the other catchy signs critical of governments in general scattered around the hotel grounds. He's a good person to learn about as he is one of the positive doers in this country. He owns the Cabbage & Condom restaurants in Bangkok and Pattaya and associated hotel in Pattaya, as well as the founder of The Population and Community Development Association (PDA), and an ex-Senator. He's also a luk krung which many aren't aware of. His full story can be found in the below links and it will become clear why Cabbage & Condoms is named as such. Pete
Isn't the Thai word for condom; 'meechai' coined after him? Remember reading about him in a guide book all those years ago before my first trip to Thailand. Ah....happy days!
Good reading there Pete. Interesting guy. Something caught my eye in the Wiki page...
This is one of several places in Bangkok where poor women can receive pregnancy termination, a practice which is legal in the country per Section 305 of the Thailand penal code, but often perceived as illegal.[
After the unborn babies found at the temple it seems that some Thai's dont even know there own laws.
If it's within arms reach, there's nothing to worry about!!
↑ Yes, that entry gave me a bit of a head jerk as well. It is Wiki though and I haven't gone to look for section 305 of the code to see if true or not. We stay at C&C in Pattaya when we take a small break. However, 2 puppies makes our short breaks infrequent these days. Regardless, I've talked to him there before and if I see him again, I'll ask about it and post. Pete

I think that he'd probably deny it, if you asked him face to face, Pete (and probably best not to). They do help women who find themselves in a difficult situation, but they don't really advertise it. It's not the same as the 'back-street' abortions performed by the woman who was uncovered (and was possibly only trying to help) when the temple thing hit the headlines. He's a great guy, who has set up a superb facility to help women and try and educate Thais to have safe sex. If more women knew about a safe, clean and professional operation like this, then the 'Dickensian' back-street operations wouldn't have to do what they do.
They also perform vasectomies if any of you guys are interested...

I watched this on Saturday - the biggest pity is that it ran for 30 minutes only.
The man has a whole range of great ideas that could be extremely beneficial to society as a whole, reaching far beyond the borders of Thailand - from the training of villagers by companies to cultivating chocolate-flavoured bananas ......!!!
I don't know if it's still available at the BBC World website, but it's definitely worth (another) watch.
