No discrimination at The Hilton

As some of you will know already, I'm not a great believer in this hotel.
However, my Thai wife, together with two of her friends went tonight and were charged 150 Baht each for entrance. That entitled them to a "small drink" - ie small beer or wine cooler thing.
Apparantly, the place was rocking.
More fool those who attended and were totally ripped off by the "big boys".
Why don't people learn?

Because a lot of people enjoy it? Its safe, westernised, mainly farang with lots of pretty Thai ladies. The most "local" some will ever go? The chase? Buzz? Dunno? Been there once or twice, but wiser now?

I guess your wife must like it?

Its not your taste or mine, expensive - maybe. But its not going to go out of business.

Thing is, any tourist over here, walking up to the entrance to the Hilton Nightclub will be expecting to get charged a fair amount of money to get in, just as they would 'back home' in a night club.
So they're probably pleasantly surprised that it's only 150 Baht, which includes a free drink.

I don't mind the place now and then, as it's a late drink, in a place full of people. Yes drinks are over-priced and you feel they're ripping you off, but the state you're in at that time of night, you only ever manage 2 or 3 more.
The thing I really hate about the place is the lack of quality music, it's the same old cr*p tunes everytime.

I hate the place as much as the next guy but it is nice to see that they are NOT only charging the rich white man.

The monopolizing pricks are treating everyone the same so they do deserve some tiny bit of credit for that I guess.

I was there the other nite. They let in underage Farang chicks but not so with the Thai's there is a double standard.

Just for the record:

they only charge coverfee fr-sun.
on other days I was admitted for free.

And yes it is a westernized disco, but yes there are some willing and able chicks in there.

And the band , altough playing the same music every night, get the place bumbing an Jumping , and that is wat counts.

If you like a Sportsbar: so bi it, some like to dance and wiggle it. So do a lot of thai girls.... (hubba hubba)

I enjoyed a couple of visits to the hilton in feb, didnt pay entrance, but was put off by price of beer, the girls took my mind off that and they do charge for entrance !

Regarding the prices, anyone who has been in a nightclub back home knows that you pay a premium for drinks in clubs.

think if you like a good dance which most thai girls do its not a bad price

Hilton is a load of poo! Ok it may be nice to treat yr self to a room for a night specially if u get a cheap internet booking. But if u want a good night out...... well there are to many other bars to choose from. The Hilton nclub reminds me of been at home and going out on the town on a Saturday evening and spending a S#$tload af cash. Dont know bout u but i dont visit LOS to do that.

150 baht entrance fee for foreigner is not expensive, especially as it also buys you a drink.

a bit rough to make thai people pay the same though i think - Thats half a days wage for them

Music is shite and the place is just plain boring. Beers are overpriced in the normal bars and are really over priced in the hilton. I haven't been there for over a year now and never intend to set foot in there again, same applies to most of my mates!
It's for your 2 week holiday maker who doesnt know any better...sad.

If you're there early and spending a few bob on drinks they won't charge you the entrance fee.

Anyone know if "Johnny" is still the manager there? Nice bloke but very tough on his staff.

That is, are there any other places where one can actually dance in Hua Hin?

Try the Star Planet in the basement of the City Beach hotel or the Style Club 4 km north of town in the Hin Nam Sai Suay hotel.
