Cost per metre for grass

Post by huahincharlie »

Hi, does anyone know the right price per sq.metre for turf. It's the broadleaf I'm looking for, but it's not that important. Any rough price would be a help. Thanks.

You should budget between THB 80 - 120 / sq m

Depends on the quality & the supplier

I was going to say 100 as that's what a few squares of the Thai spider type cost me not long ago. I assume though if you put in an entire lawn and buy in bulk the price will be better. Undoubtedly the golf course type grass is more, probably up in the 120+ range as Terry mentioned. Pete

Interesting thread! I am just about to buy 240 sqm for my house here in Phetchabun, and was hoping for approx. 50 B/sqm..... I want the grass called "Japan", not the rough/thick ballygrass. Do you need a layer of good (black) soil underneath or is the soil attached to the grass enough. How thick should this (possible) layer be? If needed, is that perhaps included in the prices you mention? I assume transport is included but probably not applying/fitting the grass....
Any comments much appreciated!

Wife says she pays 40 Baht per metre for the broadleaf and 25-30 Baht for the smaller stuff. But that's 1 metre in length, not 1m2. They seem to be about 40 or 50cm wide, so 80-100 Baht per m2.

Maybe someone here knows the standard width turfs come in over here?

Hi there!
For your information; today I bought 250 sqm (fine) grass for 40 b/sqm. The price included the applying/fitting of the grass but for an extra 1.500 b I also got an extra layer of black soil plus the taking away of weeds!
Guess the prices are a bit more favorable up here in banoook Phetchabun!...

You sure got it done right with the removal of weeds and layer of soil. Water the lawn daily for two weeks to make sure nothing drys out and dies. Need to get roots into new soil and down into ground so it can survive the dry spells.
