Easy solution to that one that's a win win. Post when you want to post, reply to what you want to reply to and the 'meaningless dribble' you can just kind of , well ,how do I say this..... not read it or skip through it!

already read the forum, you
already read the meaningless dribble as you know it's there so why not just jump in and post every now and then. You have already shown you hold knowledge of something I doubt any other member does. I bet there's probably a few other areas where your posts would be valuable also. Just your contribution to this thread has given me a little info - granted I don't actually need this info or hold any interests in the topic as such - but it's accurate information nevertheless which I didn't know before.
