As mentioned in this thread, we will be moving hosting companies (servers) next month which should resolve this issue.

Just for your interest at admin gent, I know it's not that important as most use Firefox, but recently I installed the latest version of Opera (11) and the news bar doesn't work and bizarrely there seems to be random smileys taking the places of some icons on the index page.

Currently, I'm getting the 'Razz' emoticon taking the place of the icon next to where it says "0 new messages" when logged in and the message icon appears in the emoticon list. :?

Yesterday, everyone that is a 'Red Hot Chili' had their chilies missing and there was just the 'shock  ' emoticon under the avatar.

I thought it was someone experimenting or something but as it happened again today they must be a bug somewhere, maybe in the browsers.

Not suggesting a problem with the site, but was wondering about whether there are some configuration problems with some of the other browsers.

Usually use FF but got Opera as a second choice, OS is Windows 7.

Rather a bizarre post, I know, and I haven't been drinking.....yet.....today.

The news ticker is experimental and evidently having problems today.

If you can post a screenshot our tech gurus can take a look but it is highly unlikely that they can redesign the layout for a browser used by less than 2% of web surfers - it works fine in IE, Firefox, Chrome and Safari.

Hi Lev,

This is a good example of how it's going a little odd, took this screen shot of 'Current Affairs' and it's doing something different again, notice how there is the locked symbol in the wrong places even though the thread is not locked.

Somewhat strange, seems to be something different each time. Hope that explains something and it's not just me. :thumb:

Edit - Sorry to take a while, had to get it together with the 'sniping tool' to do it, and also for the extended pic to the right, not used this tool too much but think I've got the hang of it now.

I mainly use Chrome 10 and don't see the full height ticker

The ticker has now been removed until our gurus can come up with a solution.

Tried to move Barry's post and puppy photo attachments to a new thread to keep things on topic, and appears a quote is not picking up attachments but only the text. Perhaps things are set that way but I've never noticed before. Pete

That happens every time. You get the text, but not the photos. PM me the details, and I'll insert the photos for you if you wish.

Edit - I've found the post you were on about. I see that you've made a work around.

I had this problem but when I upgraded Firefox it and several other problems were solved. May not be relevant but hope it helps

richard, if upgrading your Firefox fixed the problem, what version are you running please?

I thought my version of Firefox was up to date. I've also tried it on the latest version of IE. As far as I'm concerned, it is a design feature of the forum's software, but would love to be proved wrong.

Partially right Richard, thanks. I was having a very difficult time adding attachments to a new post, just upgraded and it now works. However, going back to Barry's original post with photos, a quote still only picks up the text and not the photos.

I'm on a Mac BB so no help to you with my version number. Pete

:banghead: :banghead: I think you're trying to confuse me - and succeeding :D

As far as I can see, the reported problem was a quote is not picking up attachments but only the text. You have confirmed that is still happening. So which bit is partially right please?

The "several other problems solved..." part. I sat here trying to load the dog photos you now see in the new pet thread, and in preview all I got was the attachment text and no photo. Checked for an FF update, there was one, downloaded and then my photos appeared as they should.

The original observation about quote/attachments still holds true. Pete

I'm using Firefox4

The problems it solved were as follows:

Loss of sound now and again--resolved
Embedded pics in emails were not appearing on forwarding---resolved
Labels on smilies not showing----resolved

Maybe my settings on the previous version were too restrictive but now I'm a happy bunny
