Immunisations for babies/toddlers

Post by cozza »

Hi,

My daughter is due for one of the many immunisations that children have in these modern times...anyone know where they/we can go to get this done and if it to "western standards"?

Thanks in advance!

Our two were all done at Dr Sumet's clinic opposite Soi 80. No idea what western standards are but they both have a little 'service history' book and haven't come down with anything yet!

I would imagine you could go to the new Hua Hin Bangkok Hospital or Hua Hin General Hospital or the Polyclinic ....

Hey Buksida,

I guess identical or equivalent immunisations is what I meant by western standard. I'll take my little one in to get it done there.

Thanks!

You can find a UK vaccination schedule here.

US Vaccination schedules can be found here.

Rabies, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis A/B & Typhoid are all worth considering.

ETA: Thai vaccination information can be found here

When my wife and daughter came to live in the UK (she was 3 at the time) we translated her immunisation record so that we could check whether anything was missing. She was born and spent the first 2 years of her life in a little village in Isaan.

We actually discovered that she had had all the vaccinations she would have had in the UK plus a few extra - Japanese Encephalitis springs to mind.

It makes me think that the Thai Vaccination program isn't too far removed from Western standards.

MOst countries are following the World Health Org standards
Thai does a pretty god job of protecting its children.
AND the good news is that the Dengue vaccination pilot program in Thai is looking good and this killer may be eliminated soon.

Yes, the Thai standard is on par with any developed nation. You'll also find the hold free local clinics all over town where they administer certain shots such as polio I believe.

Dr Mike, is there a vaccine against dengue fever?

Not yet, there are 4 types of Dengue and a vaccine against the two most common types is being tested for efficancy and side-effects.

That's really good news Dr Mike.

Any idea what stage they're at with the testing and when it might be available?
