Hello all

I went once to the bowling alley and was not happy with the service and reading here I was not the only one. We went, it was half empty but could still not get a lane, we left, and went shopping in Tesco, which cost me more I think?

Really want to take my girl bowling and get a game this time, she tell me she never been so I may be able to beat her

Has any one been there recently, last few months, and if so what was the service like?

I went bowling in early April. There were two lanes free and the kids set themselves up at one of them. However, the staff insisted that we take the other lane, which was the one nearest the entrance (lane 8, I think). This turned out to be a disaster. The lane had to be reset on virtually every persons go as it constantly jammed and did not return the pins properly. The staff were completely disinterested and seemingly unable to rectify the situation. Not long after the first couple of lane jams I asked to move to the original lane, which was still free but the staff refused, just grinning inanely. After we had finished, we changed our shoes and left. Moments later we were apprehended by security as I had apparently not paid! I thought I had paid but as it turned out I had only paid for the shoe hire. Nevertheless, it gave me the opportunity of having a real go at the fact that they were pretty sharp off the blocks when I walked out but didn't give a shit about the problems we had during the game. Initially I just got the dopey grin treatment but I told the guy (in my limited Thai) to stop smiling because I wasn't happy. I insisted on a discount before handing over any cash, which they obliged me with but we didn't go back again during the whole month we were in Hua Hin.

Crap! Even the kids were cheesed off by the end.

(Apart from that, the mall is great!)

Does anybody know where the superb Australian Baked Beans that Tesco introduced to Hua Hin are situated. I have looked three times and not found them.

They are essential to my diet.

They need to attend to the drainage problems before they worry about any kind of beans.
The smell from the drains where the bike park is positively nauseating to say the least !

Ayams are on aisle 7, six metres from the beginning of the aisle, left-hand side, second shelf from the top.
Next to Ayams there was a gaping hole, having contained some Aussie beans, perchance.

Hello from austria

we will stay in september in Hua Hin Marriott for 14 days (second time)
The mall is new for us - can somebody tell us how far away the complex ist from mariott (on maps looks like is walkin distance - is it ? )

Is there anywhere a shop directory (foodcourt directory) from the mall in the web ?

Thanks for help ...

It depends how far you like to walk. For most people, yes, the new mall is within fairly easy walking distance of the Marriott.

I'd say it's within very easy walking distance from Marriott.

Tesco.. well it's got plenty of stuff to buy, the donut place is pretty good, and cheap too, and parking out the front is fairly convenient on a bike. The cinema upstairs is brilliant, much better than the UGC crap we have in Britain. I have reservations though about the creeping westernisation. The problem is that these companies are big and market in a sophisticated way, and if they drive smaller companies out of business, they wont come back. Then they own the market, just like in Britain, and it's bye bye cheap fresh food, hello processed crap and all the stuff you used to like being marketed at inflated prices as 'traditional' or 'organic' or some similar nonsense.

Remember also what it does for Thais. Work for Tesco and you have no stake in it, you've just got crap wages. Own your own business (ie one of the 2938430 food stalls) and it's yours, you live and die by your own efforts. That's what's so good about Thailand and makes it so vibrant. People have to be creative and inventive, and it's this which will see Thailand (and the East in general) overtake Britain and the West in due course.

be wary of Tesco, they could potentially cause issues in Thailand. I work for a company that supplies them, and if they could put us out of business they would. They also buy up land to stop other retailers openong and giving them competion
