Re-entry and 90 day reporting

Post by pitsch »

Following situation:
Non-Immigrant "O", over 50 years, 800000 Baht at the Bank, re-entry permit.

I left Thailand for 2 weeks and came back in September. So what is the right thing to do?

1. 24 hour reporting, which only a small minority seems to do. Do you get any confirmation in the passport if you do it?

2. Go to immigration at the date stamped on your last 90 day reporting in the passport. Thats what I did in October and it worked.

3. Go to immigration 90 days after your re-entry into Thailand. When I was at immigration in January the officer told me, no.2 is not right, but no. 3 is right.

But perhaps next time another officer will tell me another thing?

What do you do in this situation when you reenter Thailand?

For me I only follow your number 3.

If they want something else, then they are welcome to discuss it with my Lawyer!

Maybe the officer-of-the-day let you get away with procedure 2 but the only correct way is number 3 as 90-day reporting implies you notify immigration that you have been staying in Thailand for 90 days continuously without leaving the country.
We are all living in 'the good old days' of the future.

Hi,
so far you did not come back with an update, which means possibility 3 worked or you have not been abroad in the meantime.

Are there any further experiences from the members?

When you re enter the country you are required to report to the issuing office of your visa within 24 hours of re entry although they accept that you may have stayed in say Bangkok for a few days before coming back to Hua Hin
You are allowed to do your 90 days reporting within 7 days either side of the exact date

Do you really have to do the 24 hour reporting after re-entry? As far as I know most of the farangs don't do it, but come only 90 days after re-entry for reporting.

How about passports on a machine readable card, re entry could be coded onto it--then Thai residents arrive, go to the machine and get clearance,

PROBLEM--then you might need less staff.

The 24 hour after arrival is required but it seems as though they do not always enforce it too much. For the sake of a 5 minute visit I always do it within. Your 90 days should then be reset to 90 days after last arrival in the Kingdom

This 24 hour reporting is an old regulation that HH seem to enforce occasionally. I havn't got a link to the wording at the moment, but from memory the house owner has to report your arrival. If you rent, then there dosn't seem to be any obligation to do the report. Your landlord should do it although whether that would be Imm's interpretation is moot.
The rule also covers hotels and guesthouses that have to report your registration within 24 hours.
I'm not out of the country very much but I've never done the 24 hour report and have never been pulled for it.

I have read somewhere that it is possible to report online, but as yet not found how to do it. Maybe just for Hotel/Guesthouse etc

Edit:
There was a poll here viewtopic.php?f=9&t=15871&p=181872&hilit=Poll#p181872
