Petition: English language movies at Hua Hin cineplex
Re: Petition: English language movies at Hua Hin cineplex
Maybe true. But I am in the area 2 - 3 times every week and not once did I see any promotion of English sound track. True, HHAD viewer were made aware but the foreign locals and vistors are much larger than the local HHAD community (I say local because many HHAD people do not live in the area).

Cinema
Can anyone tell me if they ever show any movies in English at the cinema in the market village. Ive tried numerous times to go and watch a big English speaking movie and get the same answer all the time"They dont have it in English at any time day or night" I mean im sure if they had set times only the once they would fill the cinema for the major blockbusters that are out and comming out. If I want to watch a movie in English the nearest cinema that im aware of is Rama 11 and that cost me a fortune to bring the whole family there.

I spoke to the duty manager a while ago - he said that they had but they only advertised the fact that there were films in english in Thai papers!!!! I told him 2 showings a week is sufficient for us. Weekends as most of us work here.

My experience inThailand is that you have to make very definite suggestions--not that you sometimes play English movies--too may detailed decisions needed BUT suggest that you play an English speaking movie at 8pm on tuesday and saturday.

Yea that would work for me or even once a week and i would defo go at least once a week as thats what I did when i was back in the UK.dom77 wrote:I spoke to the duty manager a while ago - he said that they had but they only advertised the fact that there were films in english in Thai papers!!!! So what was his final response. Does he not have a news letter data base where he could e mail people who are solely interested in English movies.

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Excuse me - '' most of us work here'' ? Is this thread still about the cinema in HUA HIN because I doubt if more than 5% of Expats work here.
Courage is grace under pressure and when circumstances change you change your mind.
Re: Petition: English language movies at Hua Hin cineplex
^ Yes, and when are you going to get it people... they don't care about us... we are not important... expats evidently mean so little to the local economy that they don't give a toss about us. Haven't you figured that out by now.
Tourists with lots of money to spend for two weeks or a month in fancy hotels and high priced restaurants and bars, maybe, but the rest of us are the lowest of the low. No one is going to change how they do business or even change anything to cater to farang expats except maybe businesses owned by other farang expats.
Get over it!

Funny thing is I spoke with a few Thais at the weekend and they prefer the movies in the Original Langauge and if there is subtitles in Thai then thats better so as they can follow the plot properly and its better also because the movie dosent feel right after its being dubbed into Thai.
Re: Petition: English language movies at Hua Hin cineplex
This sounds strange to me. I went to the cinema here in Bangkok yesterday, saw the new X-Men movie, the cinema was packed with Thai people, and the movie was English speaking with Thai subtitles.
Been the same for all movies ive seen here so far during the last year.

I work here and so do the majority of my friends and associates. We would like the opportunity to watch films in English as would my Thai friends. I would suggest maybe everyone get together in person one saturday and present a petition to the management and also management of Mkt Village - it would force the issue I think.

^^I don't claim to know much about Thai culture, and I might well have agreed with you some years ago, but I think I'd just find that hugely embarrassing now...
This is the way
Re: Petition: English language movies at Hua Hin cineplex
it seems like they don.t want to make money!! but on the otherside they showed the movies in english for almost 1 month about 3months ago and i went there a couple of times but to be honest i didn.t see any other farangs but everybody is complaining. so if these people decide to show org. soundtracks again we should get there and make the place full that they notice it will work but first maybe a open letter with many signatures would be a good idea..
