mountain bike replacement parts

Post by Jimbob »

I am flying through BKK soon but only staying a few days in BKK (not HH this time) and hope to use the opportunity to pick up a replacement Shimano brake lever. After a 'stack' the handle has been reshaped with a replacement price tag of $100. Yes, $100. I'm not game to straighten it.
Does anyone know of somewhere in BKK that I can buy handles and other parts at reasonable prices. :D Maybe even mail order?

when something similar happened on a motorbike i simply put a tube/pipe over it a slowly bent it back to shape if you wedge the bar first between grip and lever with a block so as to protect the cable and rest of the lever it should straighten

sorry if its not easy to understand

ProBike on Soi Sarasin - the soi that runs along the northern edge of Lumpini Park - carry a comprehensive stock of spare parts and they are not inordinately expensive.
The nearest BTS station is Rajadamri

Just an update on my quest for parts during recent vist to BKK:
I found Probike as suggested by Nereus very helpful. I had to buy a complete handbrake lever cylinder kit but much cheaper than at home. also bought mountain bike pedals with cleats one side, normal pedals the other. Unfortunately they don't ship outside Thailand for future needs.

Hua Hin Bkes on Pekky-Road normally has a big range of Trek Bikes, plus has various frame sizes on stock..so they will build to your spec.
