Re: double entry 60 day tourist visa
Thanks for the replies guys.
The reason I was interested in doing this "backwards" is that I'm currently living in earthquake central (Christchurch, NZ) & not sure that if I send my passport to the Thai Embassy in Wellington that it will come back in time for my departure on 13 Aug. It's supposed to come back by courier & it'd be flown back between islands if there are no volcanic ash clouds in the way blown over from Chile. If not I guess it'd cross islands by ferry & come the rest of the way to Chch by road. Then if we have another substantial earthquake the courier may not get to where I want it delivered, the roads are pretty bad at the address where I want it sent to & after the 6.3 quake in Feb mail deliveries weren't being made there for a number of weeks.
So I'm being very negative, but we had another 6.3 last Monday & I'm thinking it's better I keep my passport with me for now

I think sex is better than logic, but I can't prove it...

Assuming you can't go yourself, I'd call the embassy - even for the Thai authorities, issuing a tourist visa should be a simple one-day affair.

After we have done the run and are now coming to the end of 180 days, can we continue to do runs and keep applying for 60 day visas....Or do we have to leave Thailand forever..

Re: double entry 60 day tourist visa
You can keep applying for new single or doule-entry visas in neighbouring countries but some are tightening up after you've had a number of them back-to-back. This is because they don't believe you're a tourist any more and are likely to be working illegally to support yourself.
The current information I have is that Vientianne are likely to give you another single or double-entry but could well turn you down once you've had three back-to-back. Phnom Penh is a good bet at the moment and don't have any restrictions on the number you can get there. Penang will not issue another if you've extended any entry for 30 days. KL should be OK.
I would emphasise that there's nothing cast in stone about all this in Thai Imm regualtions. The Embassies and consulates make up their own rules as they go along and what may be the case one day could change the next. All I can suggest is that you ask around, including here on the forum, close to the time that you want another visa and we'll advise as best we can.

Re: double entry 60 day tourist visa
Ok thats great thanks......How do people who live there now stay...do they have other kind of visas which allows them to stay ?
Re: double entry 60 day tourist visa
Other than those working legitimately here, most will get a Non Imm O visa and extend it every year on the basis of marriage to a Thai or retirement. There are financial requirements that need to be met for both and marital status or age need to be satisfied as well.

Or study Thai language. Can get ED Visa with extensions up to 3 years. Only recommended if you genuinely want to learn Thai.lomuamart wrote:Other than those working legitimately here, most will get a Non Imm O visa and extend it every year on the basis of marriage to a Thai or retirement.
