Photography club in Hua Hin?
Is there a photography club in Hua Hin?
Re: Photography club in Hua Hin?
Not that I know of but I'd be interested if one were setup!

I'll play once a week. Afternoons are best for me but realistically I am fairly flexible. Would be nice to meet up with some other keen photographers. From some of the pics that have been posted on here there is a fair deal of talent around. Someone just needs to organise it.

I (sort of) suggested this some time back and only managed to attract 1 persons interest! As such it never got going.
Like Crazy 8 has suggested it would be good to meet other enthusiasts to chew over things, i.e. equipment, techniques, post processing, photogenic venues and most of all up and coming events worth shooting. Really frustrating to read all about it AFTER the event!
When I lived on Samui we had a small group that met up (say) Sunday mornings at a pre-selected venue. Spent some time shooting and then lunch and a chat. Mid week we met again and displayed our selected images on laptops (read iPads now) and discussed the good and bad points. Great learning experience for sure and totally casual.
Maybe a thought?
I've been playing around with vintage simulation lately and quite like this effect

I've sent you a PM, FB - I'd definitely be interested in something if it came to fruition.

Organization could happen online with a Google group or a blog. Those interested could submit a list of their favorite places to shoot or places/subjects they're interested in. When enough people agreed on a time and a place, grab cameras and go. Have the follow up when the majority have had enough time to edit their images. In the off season it sure won't be hard to find a place with enough table space to view and discuss the results.Shoot, we could even let people without iPads participate.
I've been using a sub forum at Steves Digicams where people post their photos and invite criticism http://forums.steves-digicams.com/photo-critiques-83/ , but I think it would be better in person.
Steves also has a new challenge every two weeks. http://forums.steves-digicams.com/biwee ... ot-out-78/ I participate because it gets me out of my comfort zone in terms of subjects and techniques.

Google and blogs totally OTT IMHO.Homer wrote:Works for me.FatBoy wrote: When I lived on Samui we had a small group that met up (say) Sunday mornings at a pre-selected venue. Just need a few folks locally to meet up, chat and exchange. Camera club style.
Just my 2 cents

How about you make it 4 cents and propose a non Over The Top way to decide when and where to meet up.FatBoy wrote: Google and blogs totally OTT IMHO.

15th July 2011 - Asarnha Bucha Day * (long weekend)
16th July 2011 - Start of Buddhist Rains Retreat
From what I read it doesn't seem either one provides much in the way of photo ops. Anybody know different?
The holiday that follows these by three months looks like it has possibilities if one doesn't mind intruding on a religious event with a camera http://cultureandreligionofthailand.blo ... emony.html
Re: Photography club in Hua Hin?
There is always a photo op, you just have to see it in a different way than what you first look at. I have learned as much from my photography and film students as I have taught, if not more which is one of the reasons I would happily participate if anyone can organise a club.

Just moved to Hua Hin and asked the question about a photography club, was pointed to your reply placed earlier in the month. Has anybody organised one or do you know anybody that might be willing too.crazy88 wrote:I'll play once a week. Afternoons are best for me but realistically I am fairly flexible. This will be my next camera... when I can afford it.

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Re: Photography club in Hua Hin?
When I saw '35X Zoom' my first thought was '1.21 gigawatts!'. But no RAW and it has a small sensor. I get the impression that DSLR camera manufacturers are stuck with the same dilemma Porsche has in that they have to keep performance out of their mid priced product to avoid taking away from high end sales.hhfarang wrote:This will be my next camera... when I can afford it.
The 911's rear engine roots are in a 1930's design. They could have profitably sold the mid engine Cayman with performance close to that of a 911 but then few would buy the more expensive 911. SLRs were invented in the 19th century. Cameras are now mostly computers so they keep getting better rapidly. The manufacturers who don't make DSLRs already have cameras that are stealing sales from DSLRs. Cannon and Nikon will soon have to follow, but the SX40 doesn't reflect that. Doesn't matter to most of the market, so it will sell well.
Don't get me wrong. For many tasks there is no substitute for a DSLR and I expect to buy one.
