Isn`t this the norm for "experts". They never come on at the end of the season to stand by their predictions do they? Mainly because they often are so wrong. Their attitude seems to be "who has spent the most, they will be top". Welding multi million pound players into a team is not easy.

It all seems a bit wing and a prayer to me at the moment.
I think Friedel is one of the best keepers around, and has been for many a year, though getting on a bit now. He will be your number one without doubt. If not, 'Arry's a John Sprat!

Why the predictions for a good LFC season GLC and Zidane? Dalglish? Suarez? Carroll?
Dalglish : At 60 he's probably a bit past the attacking midfield role nowadays (similar to Gerrard) but a decent enough manager for you.
Carroll : Very much a "work in progress" but should get you at least 15 goals in the league if he maintains the form he showed with Newcastle.
Suarez : Class player, wish we had him at Old Trafford.I think any top European side would want him.I've made him captain of my Fantasy League team which says a lot for a United supporter ! 8)

Plus youve got a top keeper in Reina, excellent young prospect in Kelly and if Downing can set up the chances for Carroll and Suarez you should make the top 3.......especially so if Gerrard can have a relatively injury free season.
You look at the top 6 teams and Liverpool are comparable with any,on paper.
PS: Whats this about Meireles being surplus to requirements ? He was one of your better players last season.

Chelsea will probably do the best of the London teams but will that satisfy Abramovic ??
We're all on our uppers,we're all going skint,

Will being the 2nd team in Manchester satisfy the Glazer's? Oh I forgot, its just their debt vehicle! :naughty:

We've got enough decent midfielders now to just let the lad get fully fit. No rushing him back.

Do you think we'll ever see the all action monster of a player again or not? Gonna have to adapt his game?

Legend of a player though, best in the world when he was at his peak.

That's one testimonial I will certainly be going to!

I think with Meireles its the fact that he's approaching 30 and is one of our more sellable assets. It's the last time we're going to get a decent fee for him. He's a decent player and seems a good professional but he's a bit of a luxury player, he doesn't quite cut it in centre mid in the premier league and we've got better options so he's competing for the floating role and we have Gerrard and Suarez.

I like the guy but it's just the situation and the fact the owners follow this Moneyball philosophy.

I won't lose any sleep either way, I rate him but think Aquilani is a better player and it looks like he's going.

Most of our Pundits are ex footballers, it doesn't mean they know anything about the game just because they were good at it.

Paul Merson and Mark Lawrenson were both very good Footballers FFS.

Most of the best Managers were poor players, Wenger, Mourinho, Benitez spring to mind.
Fergie banged a few goals in in the Scottish League, Average player. Mancini was a good player but has yet to do it as a Manager.

De Boas is 33, a student of the game, never made it as a player.

The only current notable exceptions are Dalglish and Guardiola, both great players (Dalglish moreso) and both have raked in Trophies as Managers.

Exhibit A

This drunk can't even pronounce his name correctly and has probably never seen him play, Smalling and Wes Brown? FFS! Hardly Maldini and Beckenbauer are they?

Exhibit B

The knowledge of Mark Lawrenson on Suarez.

Exhibit C

Total Tool!

Lets hope John Terry gets his wish to manage Chelsea!

Lee Dixon, Clarence Seedorf and Alan Hansen are the only decent pundits who were decent players I've got any time for.

I'm glad you appreciate one of the top full backs ever to grace the game. Kenny Sansom and Pat Rice are the others that come to mind.

But with respect BaaBaa, you might not like the ex-players as pundits, but it means they know and understand a lot more than you and I! That's a given.

Mancini was a great player. He also has a great record as a manager so I don't understand your comment? He's on a par, if not better than most, especially in the premiership. I don't like his team at ManC, as for me they are disjointed, but underestimate the guy at your peril.

Do they really know more than us though? Merson doesn't, Le Tissier doesn't., Charlie Nicholas doesn't.

Tossers like this who've only managed league 2 teams and relegated them sit on Soccer Saturday and slate European Cup winning Managers. The only 1 who can walk the walk on there is Thommo.

It's a sad day if Paul fucking Merson is more knowledgeable than you in any given subject.

Well, I have never played or understood the game at their level, and Mancini?

By the by, I look forward to JT finishing his coaching stuff and learning that side of his trade at his club. Seems good to me.

JT? I cannon wait!.

When Arsenal played Barca, Rafa was a guest in the studio, Richard GMTV Keyes asked him how do you beat Barca! He gave more time to Jamie Redknapps cliched English heart Bollocks than he did Rafas right footer at leftback to cover Messi.

So would you prefer to listen to a tactical genius or Jamie Redknapp?

And no, I don't rate Mancini as a manager.
