Where to buy a Honda CBR 250R

Post by Hilux »

I have been trying to contact the local honda dealer in Cha-Am, but it seems that anything more that 150 ccm is not available. If somebody could direct me to a dealer that can supply the Bike - preferably in Cha-Am or Hua-Hin - it would be much appreciated.

I am currently not in Thailand but would like to have it ready to when I arrive in late June.

I went to the Honda dealer in Hua Hin about 3-4 weeks ago. The CBR 250 has to be ordered 3 months in advance. Bangkok is probably best if you want the full range of colours and choice of both options.

Did you get the bike Hilux?

Just found this BK Post article from last month that explains the waiting list:

Got quoted 140k for one yesterday ... seems the price keeps climbing ...

Hi Buksida
I got the bike one month ago and I am very satisfied with it. Initially I wanted to get the ABS version, but then I would have had to wait about 4 months more... So I bought the non ABS version in black and payed 115.00 including one year insurance at Cha-Am motorsales.

The reason I like this model is that is is strong enough to go on a longer trip and yet small enough to easily get through traffic and to park.
The only disadvantage I have found so far is that there is very limited space under the seat. Just about room enough for a drivers licence and an extra lock.

Hilux.

If that's the case for the one with all the 'bells n whistles', then I'd probably start looking at the Kawasaki Ninja instead, it's about 147k, and probably just a better bike full stop.

I am sure that is a matter of personal opinion. I tried both bikes and I felt that the Kawasaki is a much more demanding bike to ride. i.e. if you like to accelerate you need to gear down to get to 6000-7000 RPM - On the Honda you just turn the handle since it accelerates well from about 4000 RPM.

Another reason for the Honda was that there are so many Honda dealers around, so I figured that it would be easyer to maintain.

The CBR 250 at 115k is great value for money, no doubt about it, nothing as good as that around for the price.

Just mentioning that the Ninja would be worth looking at too if you find yourself in the 140k or just above price range for a 250 of some description.

I believe the dealerships are all franchised which is why the price varies so much between them, naturally ones in tourist towns will be more expensive.

Went into the Honda dealership in 'double H' today who quoted the following:

CBR250 ABS - 140k
CBR250 non ABS - 120k
CBR150 - 79k
(doesn't include tax/rego and insurance)

They had a black ABS version in there so no waiting if you want that one, others are subject to colour and availability. The 150 (also a black one in stock) is almost the same size and weight as the 250.

I don't really like the overall 'look' of the new Honda CBR250, i think it looks really dull and bland.
I think the new Honda CBR150 looks really cool though.

Bit of a strange comment that one since they both look almost identical aside from the exhaust and paint job.
