Mike,

You'll get a much better deal in Thailand. There's normally about a 5 Baht difference.

I am amazed that you have been offered 68 Baht for a pund in the UK. Is that something you read somewhere, or was somebody actually offering to exchange for you at that rate?

that was the rate quoted today at travelex (on-line) - it was the best i could find. so I guess the rates in HH won't be 5 baht better than this then ?

Mike,

That was a pretty good rate for the UK, but still 3baht less than you'd get in Thailand. I'm not sure of whether I can post a URL to one of the Thai Banks, so I'll send it in a PM.

Really, change your hard earned cash in Thailand - I never take any Thai currency with me. I simply change enough money (or travellers cheques) at Bangkok airport to ensure I can pay for taxis etc - they're always open, and offer the same rates as elsewhere in Thailand.

If you're staying in a hotel, don't change money there - they'll rip you off with a very poor rate.

I withdrew 7,000 B yesterday on my Barclays Connect card and got 71 to the pound. Their commision hasn't hasn't been deducted yet, but after that I'll end up with approx 68. So similar to the Travelex rate once their commission is deducted.
I think you always get a better rate at banks and exchange booths here for cash.
