How long to get to the airport from HH

How long should we allow to drive from HH to the international airport, we need to arrive by 3pm in the afternoon on a weekday.
Driving at a reasonable legal speed!

That pretty much rules out all sections of public transport then.

If driving yourself, at a legal speed, then I guess about 3-4 hours.

I normally allow three hours but usually take less. I have a regular driver and he doesn't go too fast.

Thanks guys for the info, guess we will allow three and a half hours just in case of hold ups etc and getting lost!!!

Yes be careful when you hit the approach roads to Swampy. If you take the wrong exit it can be a nightmare getting back to square one again.

Yes, if you don't get lost, hit any accidents or heavy traffic congestion (usually caused just south of Bangkok by police pulling over and inspecting trucks), then you should easily make it in 3 hours. I picked someone up from a late night flight last year and (driving after midnight) made it in two hours fifteen minutes with no stops or traffic (I wasn't exactly sticking to the speed limit either though ).

thanks everyone for your helpful info, still looking for a cheap mini van as it might be a bit cramped if we drove in our car..... 4 people plus luggage for 2!
