No Alchohol sales all week in respect to our beloved queen. It's a really nice week however with most thai's going to the temple and visiting family to reinforce family values. However you can get an odd beer served in tea cups at many a bar, if you get caught it's about 50 us dollar fine, so not that bad.

Enjoy your holiday, bring a few duty free bottles to drink in your room.

That must be August 12th and in 13 years here I've never known the alcohol ban lasting longer than that day.
JG, where do you get a week from?

There's always a place to get a drink on any holiday, but it may not be in the middle of town. You just have to go out Soi 88 or the Pala U road a bit and you will still get served. A lot of places in town, even in Bangkok, will serve you in a coffee mug as well. I've been in Bangkok on major holidays when it was illegal and have been served beer in a large coffee mug at many places.... not to worry.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

last time i was in thailand (5 years ago) my partner and i managed to get a babysitter while visiting jomtien.went out for a romantic meal only for it to be a regal birthday and the sale of alchohol was prohibited. never the less we had a lovely night and even though the restruant did not serve wine. our local backstreet beer bar was more than acomodating. lol

The sale of alcohol may be prohibited, but there's no ban on drinking it...
This is the way
